Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNo elevators in the building where you sleep, so I had to carry luggage up and down four flights of steps. The light skinned man at the front desk was rude and nasty for no reason. There was hair in the shower when I checked in and a price tag in the closet, that told me all I needed to know about how throughly the room had been cleaned. Taxis weren’t readily available and no events at the hotel for residents that want to stay in. The hot tub is the size of a kiddie pool. If you’re a woman traveling alone beware of the perverted taxi drivers!
Really enjoyed the view and for the money it was very nice! The food at the restaurant was more affordable than in town. The rooms are nice.

United StatesHours of small shop that sells sandwiches, snacks, water, and more was very limited for individuals who check in on afternoon. Impact primarily on first day. As such, I had to sit in restaurant versus staying in my room to have a meal, which would have been preference.
Ate dinner at property during 1st night. Good menu, friendly staff. Great views and relatively quiet for relaxing. Also, everything in good order and works (internet, phone, etc)

Czech RepublicReceptionest were not really friendly and helpful, may be bad day... and you have to pay extra for baby crib.
Room was beautiful, big, bed perfect, but couch for extra 2 really small, just for kids. Kitchen perfect and view from our room too. The tower and pirate shop very nice. Pool is nice. Jakuzzi only for adults ( above 14 years old).

United StatesLong wait in cafe was really the only issue
Quality of food was sufficient, but there is only one person staffed. Had to wait in the gift shop/coffee shop for 45+ minutes one day for a bagel and a latte.

United StatesWell, I'd give the menu choices in the restaurant a B. There were a couple of dishes that we liked but the diversity of options and quality of the food was over-matched by the prices.
The location was fine as were the accommodations. The view from the balcony was outstanding! The pool was an easy walk from our room and I found the lounge chairs very comfortable.

United StatesWould have loved to have access to the handicap elevators for check in. We didn't find them till check out so had to navigate several sets of stairs w heavy luggage.
We wanted to do more walking around, but the steep hill and the traffic deterred us. We loved the views, the pool, the historical aspect, and the fitness room.

United StatesThe place is beautiful but the name "hilltop" fits it perfectly. I feel its not a place for the elderly or handicapped. There's stairs galore and theres no choice of elevater taking to the Lobby or restaurant. Even tho there are elevaters, you still have to take some stairs regardless. I will not go there again because of that. We had to take 35 stairs to get to lobby or to take a cab. Even though its close to town, its not walkability unless you are an athlete.
The room was excellent with breathtaking views. Very clean and roomy. Loved the full kitchen.

United StatesThe bartenders. A few words I can use to describe them are rude, dishonest, and entitled. I was refused table service with a guest of mine who I invited to lunch in the Castle Grille. We wanted to sit in the dining area above the pool and were told by the bar staff that “if other people see you eating there, everyone will want to eat there”. Well obviously! That’s seems to be the point of the dining area! But looks can be deceiving in that restaurant. We were offered our food to-go and when we picked up our food a $12 “service fee” was included in my $65 bill. When I asked the bartender about it, I was told it was an added gratuity. As if I’m supposed to pay a $12 gratuity for to-go service! This was an absolute turn-off for me and my guest and it tainted my otherwise good experience here.
Magnificent views, friendly, accommodating staff with the exception of the bartenders.

United StatesIt took too long to get into our room. We checked in and were told they were just finishing up getting it , so we ate at the bar (which was delicious) but an hour went by and it still wasn’t ready. Once we told them we were on a schedule, they started rushing to get us in.
Room has a great view. I Iiked that it wasn’t like a hotel where housekeeping comes in every day to clean, this way we could just sit in the room and relax knowing we weren’t ever going to be bothered. The food at the bar was also really good.
