How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Excellent location. Lovely clean room with comfy bed. Jenny from reception was super friendly and helpful with tours and motorcycle hire. Would just suggest to ask to look at the motorcycle before you hire, our mistake (for some reason we didn’t check this time) as the bike was pretty average. Breakfast was good.

Nothing. Maybe the bathroom was a bit ‘tired’ but it was so cheap it really wasn’t a problem.
It was very good value. Jenny, who welcomed us on arrival was very friendly and cheerful.

My room had a beautiful view of the lake. Room was spacious. AC unit worked well. Breakfast included. Staff were super warm and kind!

Nothing to dislike about the property. Just with the cruise, the guides English was not very good and he shouted a lot. People didn’t understand and stopped listening so he shouted more. In a way it was amusing for us. We couldn’t go on Monkey island and there wasn’t any snorkelling, but it was still a nice cruise. I’m not sure if another company would be better.
The receptionist was very good and helpful. She booked us a 1 day cruise and the bus away from Cat Ba. Great towels. The rest was pretty much as expected.

Low water pressure when taking a shower (5th floor) On weekends, you will be awake by loud music at 6 am (lac view).
Close to restaurants. Clean. Always hot water. Breakfast ok (eggs + sausage + bread or pancake, coffee). Comfy beds.

Upstairs, you can hear the water being flushed in the toilet in my room or when you take a shower, then foam comes to my bath, there is air pressure in the drain of the bath, so there is noise besides that, I really enjoyed myself here, worth every shekel!!! I put a sign on the door that they are sleeping in the room and still they knocked on the door that they are coming to clean but I talked to the reception and they fixed it
The receptionist is always smiling and welcoming the customers. Beautiful, modern and clean hotel. Looks like the pictures. Big room. I drove the clerk crazy about my schedule. She was really patient with me. In short, I recommend you to come here. You are amazing. Thank you very much.

This was the perfect stay in Cat Ba. It was a very short 5 minute walk to the center but was in a quiet street away from the noise. The rooms were very quiet and spacious. The bed was comfortable and the breakfast was good and plentiful. Jenny was absolutely amazing. One of the kindest and most helpful hosts I’ve met in Vietnam. She booked an overnight cruise in Lan Ha bay for me as well as a half day trip to Cat Ba National park. If you are in cat ba I highly recommend this place!!

The lady who runs the hotel is great. She always has a smile and is cheerful even when some guests were a little challenging. She organised onward travel with no fuss and made the effort to learn the name of each guest. Rooms are a good size, bathrooms clean and well equiped. The bed was comfortable and towels changed everyday. Breakfast was great with a choice of dishes and self serve tea and coffee. My room was very dark and quiet at night so got a good sleep which I think is what most people coming to Cat Ba are looking for. Great value for money and I would definitely recommend people to stay here. If I ever visit Cat Ba again this would be my first choice.

Spacious and very clean. Good reception area that was clean and tidy, free drinking water and tea. The receptionist Dinh was so friendly, always smiling. We extended our initial stay and would stay hete again. So close to town but a bit quieter. A good bar, restaurant nearby.
