How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Clean, spacious room, what a nice shower, hot & cold water, fridge, curtains kept sun out, window, AC very potent, breakfast variety & very yummy, even changing some dishes during the day, super friendly staff, helped us a lot, nice location with yummy restaurants close by

Just an fyi that the bathroom has a window into the bedroom, wasn’t a problem though as there is a blind.
Our view was so nice from our window and the beds were really large! Location was good you can walk from where the bus drops you off and to Ben bao harbour (around 10 mins). The staff were also really friendly and were so helpful booking tours/taxis for us.

Although it was a small amount, I wasn’t happy that they charged us for early check-in despite our room already being unoccupied and cleaned.
The property facilities are kept in good condition and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The front desk is helpful and they can provide you with information for tours around Cat Ba island. They had a fast laundry service which was very helpful as we had a very short time on the island. Great location! You have access to all of the town and good restaurants nearby.

The room was very clean. The bathroom/shower was extremely spacious and clean, and to me this was the biggest win, especially having come from some cramped hostels. Breakfast was decent and the staff was very friendly. I changed my booking to be a day shorter and they happily reimbursed me. I thought the location was the second best thing, because it was on top of the hill, so away from the noise of the downtown. It was also close to Yummy and Yummy2, the two better restaurants in the area.

Everything was fine. The receptionist was calm attentive and kind. You can book escursions at the desk with fair prices! We extended our stay. Good breakfast intercontinental with cold and warm dishes, salty and sweet. Very clean. Good location close to shops and restaurants. No worries for the bathroom glass. There is a curtain for privacy.

everything was great
Great location - very central so you find a lot of restaurants in walking distance but still quiet so you get some sleep :) the staff at the reception and at breakfast was really friendly and helpful! we booked a trekking tour as well used the laundrey service and both worked perfectly and to a very fair price. Breakfast was great as well, with some changing buffet options, fresh fruits as well as your choice of egg dish. Would definitively come back when in Cat Ba and can highly recommend!

- room was spacious - nice, clean and looked like it was newly renovated - reception were lovely and easy to deal with - really close to the main parts of Cat Ba - bed was comfortable - shower had great water pressure and always had hot water - could get laundry done at the property

Great location, new and clean hotel. Staff very friendly and helpful. The gentleman at reception suggested a boat tour which was excellent and we also hired a scooter from him, so we could go around the island and visit national park. I would definitely recommend this hotel.
