How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Very clean, modern en comfortable room. The bed was amazing, we slept so well as it was also very quiet. Everything worked perfectly and incredibly friendly staff! One of the best hotels we had in Vietnam. We have been to hotels twice as expensive that were less good.

There is no common outside area.
The hotel is very new (1year old) and very clean - especially compared to other places on Cat Ba. The breakfast is super nice and quite varied, offering everything from toast and fruit to Vietnamese soup and sweets. The personell is super friendly and very polite. Overall I was very very happy with my stay here.

The hotel was super clean and cozy and looked exactly like in the pictures! The staff was very friendly and helpful. Definitely the best hotel we stayed in during our visit to Vietnam! Totally recommend!

Everything about here was perfect. Most of all, staffs are super friendly. Reception man, dining room ladies, cleaners, they were all willing to help whenever we had questions / troubles. Professional service. I will definitely come back here.

Rooms are quite small
Compared to other 3-star hotels, the hotel is newly built so facilities are good and it looks quite clean. The staff was very friendly and helpful.

The fridge only work when you are in the room so you can't really leave anything inside. It is pointless and wasteful.
Rooms were clean and comfortable. Small but good breakfast.

Great location, calm, comfortable rooms and modern building. We had to leave 1 day earlier and the staff was very helpful and reactive to book the way back to Hanoï. They even gave us a discount for the night we didn't stay. We recommend this hotel!

The english knowledge of the staff should be improved, but they were always very-very friendly and helpful, so it didn't cause any problem.
The room was well-equipped. The breakfast wasn't as rich, as at other places in Vietnam, but it was delicious, so we enjoyed it.

I stayed for two nights at Cat Ba Eco Hotel. The young and friendly owner opened the hotel just one year ago. I really liked the new and modern rooms, the elegant, simple design, high standard and very good prize-value. There is absolutely nothing to complain about. Friendly, very clean, good facilities, nice, bright rooms, comfortable beds, good breakfast, very good location. Perfect for a stay in Cat Ba. Highly recommended!

The hotel was okay, newer hotel. Nothing to necessarily to dislike. Bed was not the most comfortable but not the worst either. Only one set of overhead lights in the bed which were quite bright.
This hotel has the best toilet paper in all of SE Asia! I am not kidding...at least 3 ply. The hotel is nice, good value for the money. Breakfast is okay, not a large selection but this is a small hotel. We were able to rent a scooter for 2 different days for inexpensive from the hotel.

Nothing really to complain about. We would suggest the hotel to introduce a safe/deposit for valuables.
Its recently built, so its all very fresh and clean. Location very convinient, helpful stuff. Pretty good breakfast for the price. overall the price-quality exceeded our expectations.

the room and the blankets are not properly clean. we had a big cockroach in our room as well as other little bugs. the blankets had dirt spots :/ this could be easily improved.
the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. the location is great and the breakfast exceptional.

Internet wasn't great. A bit pricey compared to other options
New hotel. Very clean and modern. The receptionist spoke good english and was helpful. Breakfast was nice. The location was good. Close to the beach and manu restaurants, without the noise

We had a lovely time in Cat Ba Eco, we stayed in a nice big room with quite good view of the mountains. They have good cleaning standards, simple breakfast and yet very good. The young lady who welcomed us was far too kind, she arranged everything we needed. We liked it so much we stayed longer than planned. Thank you for everything!
