How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Host was super helpful, the room was great value for money and really close to the centre! We had the room on the top floor which was really spacious, AC worked great, we felt really safe and secure here too. Overall it was a fantastic place to stay and I would recommend it to anyone!

Everything. The owner is such a gentleman and helps you with everything. Amazingg stay and also the room is good. Soundproof so that outside volume is of no disturbance.

The entrance can be a bit intimidating as it is in an old building, but once you get used to it, it’s all good.
The location is very nice, there are a lot to eat in the neighbourhood. The room is basic but comfortable. The host is super nice and helpful. We will stay here again if we return to Hanoi.

Amazing location right in the heart of Hanoi. Lots of food and drinks options nearby. Free bananas and filtered water in the shared kitchen. Nice guy who owns the place.

Right in the middle of old quarter - just outside. I asked for high floor to be more quiet. Basic but functional. Bed comfortable. It is a budget place and served my needs. Owner provided many information and arranged transportations. Very helpful. Greeted me at the door- if not , hard to find. The massage place ( Romantic Spa) just across the street was wonderful. I went there for 3 times for full body massage. Her name was Tinh ( ask for her). I wanted deep body massage to loosen my muscles and joints as I was travelling a long time. She gave me that without me asking. (I did ask for discount) Place is clean. I went to other massager for less, but got just very simple and ineffective. Good foods are just outside with many to choose from. I was stuffed. I just ate there no need to go tourist type restaurants. Except you have to sit "low" to the floor/street !

The room was practically next to beer street, which can be quite noisy in the evening. We slept very well though.
We had very nice stay in the middle of the old quarter.

There are no signs to locate the accommodation. However this was not a problem since Thinh, the guy running the place, patiently waited for me to arrive, even though I arrived quite late, and met me in the street. Being a budget traveller, the room was perfect, both in terms of location and facilities. Thinh is a real gentleman who not only kept good communication prior to my arrival, but also pointed out a few highlights to visit in Hanoi as well as helping me out with booking a bus to Cao Bang. If I'm ever back in Hanoi, I will definitely considering staying again at this charming house.

Although the bed felt a bit too firm for my liking, I was too tired and I had a good sleep without being overly bothered by it.
The owner of the property is incredibly kind and attentive. Communication was excellent; he always responded promptly to messages. The house itself is beautifully maintained and clean. Additionally, the location is superb, nestled right in the heart of the charming old quarter.

Nothing special. Excellent location. Walking distance to the CityWalk. Night marketing is wonderful. Surrounding is an ocean for the Streets Foods. The owner of the house is very helpful and so careriing for guests. Though we didn't use the kitchen, it is well organized. Compacted but convenient. Mr. THINH the owner attends for any request. Be alerted when booking for Elderly people since this is a storied home.

Small insects were crawling about on one side of the room. They got in from a tiny hole near the floor. Also, the futon bed was very hard.
Central location and cheap price for one night.

Hard to find as there’s no signage, just a street number. Bed is very hard. The room I was in had frosted glass walls on two sides so the light from the entry way spilled in, an eye mask was essential. As the place is very narrow, when other guests walk up the stairs it feels like they are right by your head and of course you hear everything they say. Street noise is muted when the bathroom window and door is closed but as there’s drum and bass style music playing, it comes through.
The owner is a nice guy and makes every effort to help people enjoy their stay. Location is right in the middle of all the party action.
