We had a bit of trouble understanding where the boat actually left from and we had to change some plans. We also got a bit of diesel smell at times but not enough to ruin the experience. Overall, and for what we paid, we were extremely happy. (We were also aware of the hidden costs for ANY drinks on board. But they are more than happy for you to take your own and there is a fridge in your room)

We cant fault our experience with Sunlight Cruises. Our tour guide Brian was exceptional. Communication was good. Boat was a little dodgey on the outside but so were many of the more expensive boats. Inside was clean, bed was comfortable and we were lucky to be given rooms with a balcony out back. Food was amazing. Plenty of choice and the planned activities were good fun. We always managed to be one of the first boats at activity places and getting kayaks and bikes was easy. We loved it for the price...❤😊

Ac was acting weird but after we mentionned this to the crew they immediately turned it on again.

We also booked a transfer from Hanoi to the boat and from the boat to Ninh Binh. It started that we were picked up at 7am in Old Quarter and picked up other guest from their hotel for 1 hour. Then our 4 hour hour busride from Old Quarter only started, makes a total of 5 hours. The food on board was not good, even though they serve generous portions. Almost everybody on board complained about the food that was often prepared hours before we ate (we saw the cooked food for lunch already in the morning and thats how it tasted). You have to pay for water on board (25.000) for a small water bottle. For the fact that you stay over night, I don t understand how they do not have a water refiller and just push tourist to use so much plastic… The crew was friendly but our guide almost pushed an other guest from the bike on a bike tour and came a bit to close. He hit me and my partner hard on our shoulders and did nt understand boundaries. For ou way back, we had also let them organize our trip to Ninh Binh …. HUGE MISTAKE. While other guest were in Ninh Binh 3,5 hours later (we met them later and they told us so) it took us 8!!! hours because we waited first, then we had again to pick up other guest for 1 hour etc etc. When we finally arrived in Ninh Binh, we had to change to a car, which then told us to get out again because our Hotel was too far (10 min drive) and they wanna pick up other guest before. We then had to wait 20 minutes ‘til the car got back and brought us to our hotel. Overall the the whole trip was overpriced and just nit an enjoyable experience. + the floors are so slippery that one guest fell and hurt his head (luckily his partner was a nurse)

We didn't like the facilities. We booked big room with balcony and window sea view but the boat is not renovated so the facilities are quite old and rusty. It didn't feel clean enough. Even though we enjoyed the activities and the experience we didn't like the boat and the rooms.

It was an amazing experience with a full itinerary. The staff and our tour guide (Hai) were very helpful and ready to help us in any way needed. They were very friendly, nice and we had a lot of fun. We had a full program of activities (kayaking, cycling, cooking class, karaoke night, fishing, exploring Cat island). They are picking you up from the hotel and they dropping you at the hotel, so you don't have to do anything about it. We stayed one night and it was all inclusive (food and activities). So at the arrival day, we had three meals and two meals the departure day. The food was beyond our expectations, it was a lot with plenty variety. It was an amazing experience staying in the Lan Ha bay.

Overall we had an enjoyable experience but were somewhat disappointed that, although we upgraded from 1 to 2 nights, in some ways we were given the 1 night itinerary twice rather than a full 2 night itinerary.

It was a shame that most of the time they moved the boat was when we were dinning, while there were large windows, we missed photo options and different scenery

The scenery is beautiful, that's what you go for and you get it in bucket loads

The plan was the same for two days. So we had to do the same thing two days which was kind of boring. The toilet in our bathroom was leaking and there was a bad smell in the bathroom because of that. They can focus a bit more on the cleanliness and maintenance of the room and bathroom

The cruise was amazing and the location was quite nice in the Ha Long Bay. The staff was super friendly
