How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Staff was amazing and went out of their way to welcome and help us book trips and buses - thank you to Anna for your wonderful help! Room was small but comfortable with good AC, we loved the location for exploring the old town and it was easy to get a grab to further locations. Thank you again for a wonderful stay!!

Air conditioning in the big room was not cold enough and the fridge turned off when leave the room
The location was perfect and the staff very homy. Bedrooms were clean and beds comfortable.

We stayed in two types of rooms. But Economy room was much better and spacier than superior double room
The owner was very welcoming and booked us a last minute Halong bay cruise for the next day for very cheap price in a 5 star cruise during high season.

If you are unlucky und have noisy neighbours, you will hear everything. Last days there was a kid in the near room shouting the whole time from the evening till the morning (but in most cases education of adults is more valuable than facilities). Bed was a bit short, especially if you are over 1.80m. Our small disappointment was a tour to Ninh Bình reserved by them, the tour operator did not perform it as smooth as expected.
From the very first time you've got the feeling you're in a safe place. Especially when you're starting your travel around Vietnam and the first touch needs to be completely positive. They They helped us a lot before check-in with maps, valuable information and sim cards (even tough you can get them in each corner). Breakfast was not of the widest selection, but good quality and as we both expected. Even they provided us a box for taking away before our trip to Sapa at 6 am (without asking...). Emma one of the leader was awesome, she was there for anything. They have got really helpful laundry service, you get your clothes in the same evening.

Kind, caring and informative staff. They are always there for you. they halped us with our tours and transportation. Location is great! you are 10 min walking distance from train street, st Joseph cathedral, Women's museum, beer street and more....

None! If I go back to Hanoi soon, I will definitely book with Golden Rooster again.
The staff were awesome! Anna and her team are very welcoming and helpful. They made our trip as smooth as possible. They even recommend where we can eat and buy souvenirs for a good price. So kudos to them! I really enjoyed my stay. Even if we got the room without windows, it was still great and had a very reasonable price! The only bad side is that the room had alow ceiling because it’s in the mezzanine floor but it’s not a deal breaker for our group since we are Filipino and we’re not really tall. 😂 The rooms are super spacious anyway, so it’s really good value for money.

A little smaller than expected, internal rooms have no windows so maybe lacks a bit of character but fine if you just want a clean and quiet place to sleep!
Nice relaxed hotel, beds are huge and really comfy! Staff very helpful.

Room is small but if you plan to find a hotel in an old building in Vietnam, just remember they just renovated the building into a hotel. If you want big room, search 'luxury hotel' on Trip Advisor and they will show you the standalone hotels which was usually way bigger and obviously cost a lot more. If someone is reading this, we stayed at Melia Hanoi for the rest of the trip and it was fantastic!
Staff was nicer. Staff turned one king bed into two double bed when they didn't have a double bed room for us. It's nice, it's basic, it has what you need. Boss lady is very amazing. I don't usually write reviews, but I'm writing this one because of her. Stay here for her hospitality.

Price wise, to get the room with the proper window to the external road is pretty steep. The one that we got is okay as long as you are not claustrophobic.
The decor is French-like, and the facility is good. We used their bathroom since we came very early in the morning. Their staff is also stayed up all night to ensure we can enter the hotel at 5AM in the morning. Really appreciate that. The breakfast is simple but sufficient. Their receptionist are friendly and ensured we’re comfortable.

They give me a room to rest for four hours complimentary since my flight was at 3am .
The best hotel in Ha Noi, the tour is very good 😊 the staff is amazing 🤩 Emma and Linda is the best.they were very helpful in booking my day tour to halong bay and ninh binh at the best prices .and tranfer to airport .

Very friendly and helpful staff. They upgrated our reserved room for a bigger one for free.Excellent location, coffee and refreshments available all day, the possibility to store luggage and the possibility of showering with a towel before leaving to the airport. They also provided free delivery to the massage salon with good price. They do also trips and taxi for resonable price - same as on Grab. I highly recommend.
