How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Amazing stay at Golden Sun hotel Hanoi, most friendly staff ever! Tom, Hai and Linh are just amazing and so friendly. They're always there to help you with anything you need. Breakfast was just amazing and we could find many Indian restaurants nearby. Train street, lake and puppet show is at a walking distance. Really couldn't ask for more. Thanks Golden Sun hotel!!

sometimes it was a bit noisy in the evening or early morning, but not always. Shampoo is very bad.
Staff is extremely friendly, especially we would like to say thank you to Ling and Hai, they were very helpful. But not only them, staff is amazing! location is in Old quarter is good.

The rooms felt a bit dated, but I think this might just be symbolic of the location — very close to the old quarter, so everything around seemed to have a similar vibe.
Hotel was in a great location and the staff were super lovely. Very responsive and helped me to book transportation, tours, and even made me a little breakfast to go before my early morning flight. Very happy overall!

Perfect location, clean large rooms, delicious breakfast and great, helpful and very friendly staff. We had a wonderful time here, a week around Tết holidays, and can absolutely recommend the hotel!

Everything is good. Just a small thing, the pressure in the shower was a little bit low. This is a very small thing so not a deal breaker for me.
The location is the biggest plus.

The layout of the building made for poor acoustics so that sound traveled far. Bring earplugs if you’re a light sleeper. Hopefully you won’t encounter the rude guest having a 15 minute conversation in the hallway on speaker phone late in the evening like we did.
Hotel is in ideal area for walking to many sites. 4 minute walk to the lake. Not the fault of the hotel but it can be noisy due to other guests lack of courtesy. All room are off a center spiral staircase so sound traveled far. We were on the 3rd floor and could easily hear guests on 1st floor talking in reception area. Best part of the accommodation was the genuinely nice staff. Always rushed to get the door for us when they saw us coming or going and always pleasant. Wifi dropped out quiet frequently. Not sure if it was just an issue during our stay or an ongoing issue. It wasn’t imperative to us so I didn’t mention it to staff.

The location is perfect to explore the old quarter of Hanoi. The room to the street had double windows, so no noise inside. Tom the manager was very polite and helpful. We will come back by the end of our Asia trip

Some nights could be noisy, but not a bad price to pay
The owner and the staff were excellent, very helpful, sorted my trips, gave me advice, a lovely breakfast, it was very clean and tidy, would definitely stay again.

The hotel is located in a busy street, so it can get a bit noisy sometimes. However, I did not have trouble sleeping.
The room was very comfortable, the price was great and the staff was always nice and helpful.

It had an odd smell in the lobby which led right to my room. Hot water didn’t last long.
Great location near pretty much everything in Old Quarter. Solid breakfast. Good value for what you pay.

We wish we had more time to explore and really enjoy the view from the room (7th floor) and the balcony (6th floor - common areas.
We were very pleased with the help from the Manager Mr Tom and the rest of the staff. Very helpful and friendly. The breakfast was a good small buffet and a small menu. This suited our wishes very well. Mr Tom and staff helped us with the arrangement to Ha Long Bay (Vendure Lotus) and guidances to restaurants and car-arrangement. The location is very central and close to what you could wish for.
