How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

Unlikely to change but there’s no elevator! I didn’t find it to be that big of a deal but you still have to climb a lot of stairs in some heat
Very clean room, nicely situated close to lots of restaurant and bars; but because it’s in an alley I never had a lot of noise if at all. Staff is also very nice

Only low seating in the public areas
Guest house Maika is surprisingly quiet for being situated right next to a central street with a lot of nightlife. The room is nice and very clean. Mini fridge was appreciated for keeping drinks cool. Good AC. Nice proprietors. Free drinking water in the hallway. They kept my luggage till I was ready to leave Hue in the evening and gave me some free bananas. They can also organize tours for you in this very historic and interesting city.

Great location for a bustling street of restaurants and bars. The hosts were excellent. We came with bicycles from the airport and they organised us taxis and helped us to get our bikes sorted. Friendly.

We had an amazing time. We were kindly upgraded to a bigger room with a lovely balcony. The owners were very kind and helpful and the rooms were clean and spacious. It's a very central location but it was still very quiet at night since it's slightly hidden away.

Everything was perfect
The room was a good size. This is the cleanest place I have ever stayed at. The hosts are really friendly. Good location near lots of bats and restaurants. At the weekend the road is pedestrianised.

The streets around are quite noisy but the owners do everything possible to shield you from that.
Great little place, convenient location, the owners are incredibly sweet and helpful. After we checked out on the last morning of our stay, they stored our large luggage for the rest of the day, helped us get a taxi in the evening and even packed a little snack for our overnight train ride.

The personal was a family super kind and helpful. They allowed me to leave my bags while visiting before the check in time. The room was very clean, bed comfortable and the best it was just less 1 minuto walking from the Main Street with lot of restaurants and cool atmosphere at night. When I checked out they gave me snacks for my trip ! I will come again

- The most lovely hosts, always welcoming and helpful - The hosts are happy to clean the room daily if you request it by leaving a card on the door knob - The room was perfect - had everything one could need, was super clean and so was the bathroom; smart TV with Netflix was a bonus! - Super clean, hotel standard bed linen and towels - Very quiet during the day and night - Walking distance to the river front, the Imperial City and a range of restaurants - Free water refills on every level - General hygiene level was superb - shoes are left on a shoe rack by the front door - It felt very safe - the hosts are always close to the reception and you leave your room key with them when you go out - Exceptional laundry service - inexpensive and all our white clothes came back brilliant white!

We got a small room without a window, but in the end we were grateful as we didn’t hear any noise from the street outside.
Very friendly family that works there. Truly felt like we were visiting someone’s home. AC in rooms

There was a little bit of karaoke noise from outside on the first night but this stopped by 10 pm. I wouldn’t let this bother you.
This guesthouse is run by a wonderful family who went out of their way to make our stay comfortable and enjoyable. The room was spotless and large. The bed was really comfortable. Free drinking water is provided. They helped organise reasonable trips, looked after our luggage after check out and even let us have a shower before travelling. Fantastic value for money.

Some noise from the walking street, steep stairs up to our room.
Very nice family running the guesthouse. Water on every floor, very convenient location right in the western area.

No elevator but they help you carry your bags up.
The room was nice, they aim for sustainability, they have free bulk water refills to cut down on plastic, the location is near all the restaurants and bars but wasn’t too noisy, walking distance to the citadel. The family very nice, you need google translate on your device if the son isn’t there but he usually is.

It's located in the touristy area of Hue, which means it can be slightly noisy nearby at night, even on weekdays. It wasn't too disruptive, though.
Super clean room and bathroom, with an excellent hot shower. I really appreciated the drinking water available on each floor, and the laundry service price was super reasonable. The family running the guesthouse are kind and helpful — I showed up very early for check-in after taking an overnight train, and they messaged me on WhatsApp as soon as my room was ready.
