Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

ItalyMy's Homestay gave us an unforgettable experience with a breathtaking view of the rice fields. The food was delicious, and the trekking tour with their amazing guide was a highlight of our stay. The location, nestled in the heart of nature, was perfect for relaxation. However, keep in mind that having a scooter is necessary if you need services. Overall, highly recommended for those seeking an authentic homestay experience in Sapa.

United KingdomMost rooms do not have a balcony as advertised and are instead at the back of the main building, with windows facing the shared area not a view. Would recommend spending the extra money on the suites with a view as they looked incredible!
Amazing location and view, very good food and clean rooms. The trek was amazing, lovely guide and very interesting

AustraliaMys Homestay is run by the most lovely family about 10km out of Sapa. They were beyond accomodating and helpful and made the stay enjoyable and comfortable. They offered a range of activities and suggestions of what to do in Sapa and nearby, plus had a restaurant for breakfast lunch and dinner (best spring rolls I have even eaten). I cannot recommend this stay enough, whether you want to do adventure activities or simply relax and unwind. Only thing to note is grab doesn’t operate in Sapa, so you will need a taxi/ bike taxi to reach (easy to plan from either the hosts or in Sapa)

VietnamLocation is a short journey from town, may be useful to learn to ride a moped before for convenience.
Beautiful scenery, enjoyed the sights and sounds of the rice paddies on our front doorstep. My and her partner were very hospitable and friendly and helped us get the most out of Sapa. There was a real family feel to the stay and the food was simple yet delicious. Thank you!

AustraliaReally enjoyed our night here, rooms are simple, but super comfortable, with an amazing view over the rice fields. Zu and her family, who run the place, are very friendly - they can organize trekking tours if you don't want to do it solo. We also enjoyed dinner, food was delish!

GermanyWe had a great stay. The homestay is right next to the rice terraces, the location is really fantastic. Our room with its own bathroom had everything we needed and is unbeatable for the price. But what topped it all was the hospitality of Tam and his family! They really make an effort, you can order food at any time and everything they cook tastes fabulous. We did a trekking tour with Tam, it was great. We would love to come back anytime!!!

United KingdomThe humidity makes the rooms a little damp, but what can you do when you’re in a cloud!
Zu and her husband Tam were so welcoming and friendly to us and our friends. Tam used to be a chef in Hanoi and cooked amazing food and some delicious veggie options. They let us check in early, did laundry so quickly, made us breakfast even though we slept in! Tam took us on a fun and challenging trek. Other days they helped us to arrange activities to do like the herbal baths and motorbike rental. Family dinner felt like we were at home. The location is outside of Sapa town in the mountains so it’s a lovely rural stay. Value for money was the best we’ve had in Vietnam - I loved it! The bed was very comfortable, with an electric blanket for extra warmth. Some of the best nights sleep we’ve had on our trip. The weather gets cold in the day and the accommodation is quite minimal. But it was such a pleasure meeting Zu and Tam that the trip felt really magical. They are wonderful, as is their English. Truly special stay.

DenmarkThe two hosts were incredibly sweet and helpful - as was the guide who accompanied us on our 1-day trekking tour (highly reccommendable). Other than trekking there isn't much to do, other than enjoy the beautiful scenery and country-esque atmosphere. Great place to relax. Food was good too.

United StatesIt isn't there fault and they do warn guests, but some guests are hard on the wooden upper floor so they are loud.
A lovely wooden house in the middle of rice fields. The whole family is welcoming. The kids are sweet. They bring a youthful energy when they are around. You wake up to sound of the roosters and crickets. My offered a driver so you had a set rate for transportation from and to Sapa.

LithuaniaThe sweet rooms were not sound proof, we could hear what our friends were talking on th other side of the wall.
The property is modest very down to earth local family place. The host were extremely warm and helpful, made super delicious food all day long, called us a taxi and suggested the hike routes. The food menu was quite long, so we tried a lof of dishes, since the weather was not good for hiking on some days. Good for a company of friends for a few days.
