Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United Arab EmiratesFurniture could use some maintenance as most of the closet doors are about to fall off. Staff is nice but the hotel or the staff are not flexible at all. They will charge you even if you want to check out late by 1-2hrs. You have to pay full price if checking out at 5pm which I feel is ridiculous. Most of the hotels in Vietnam allow you to check out late ( free at least 3hrs after check out time) unless they are fully booked.
Rooms are nicely designed in old fashion way. Very clean and spacious.

AustraliaBreakfast could have been better. I ordered the vegetarian sticky rice and it came with pork floss so I couldn’t eat it. Wifi was unreliable.
The staff were very helpful and nice. They had very good communication and helped me organise tours.

United KingdomFor our short stay this accommodation was perfect. The balcony seemed a little unsafe.
Night clerk that let us check in at 3am was lovely. Woman on reception in the morning was also lovely and walked us to our taxi. Very good level of English.

ItalyThe staff of the Hotel is extremely kind and responsive - they organised a seamless transfer upon arrival, as well as a SIM card for a local phone. They also stored our suitcases during our 3 day trip to Sapa and upon our return early morning they accommodated us back way ahead of the check-in time. Always gentle and going an extra mile to make sure the hotel guests are comfortable.

AustraliaThis is the only hotel in the Old Quarter that we stay at every year. We love the attention to detail here , the staff always greet you with a smile and good morning we feel like they are family . Bich Thuy or Julie to us runs this hotel very well . If you need help with tours, taxi, airport pick up or drop off she has it sorted. All the rooms we have stayed in are well equipped comfortable and quiet and we love the location down in a little alley and in walking distance to most places .

South Korea1 - The air in the room was surprisingly very very dry. We didn't realize it at first, but after mistakenly getting water on the floor while showering, the bathroom floor dried super quickly, and during the night, my partner and I both noticed how thirsty we were and how dry our sinuses felt. Anything hung to dry in the room could dry quickly (a thin handkerchief in like 10-15 minutes) 2 - One quirk we noticed with hotels in Vietnam is the "cold" water is actually quite warm (we assume the water tanks are on the roof and absorb heat during the day); this hotel's "cold water" was quite warm! (uncomfortably so during the early evening) 3 - Bathroom door wouldn't simply close (and stay closed like a normal door does); it would pop back open several inches. To keep it closed, you had to lock it (this was true for our room, on 4th floor) 4 - Because the mini-fridge is on the same circuits as all the other electricity/outlets in the room, it turns off every time you leave the room. So, things in the fridge wouldn't stay cool.
The room was spacious and the beds were very comfortable! My partner was very pleased with the spacious size of our room and the balcony, too. We did some laundry by hand and things dried very quickly on the balcony. The room was also very cool (but the A/C wasn't freezing us) and quiet; we didn't hear any noises and weren't bothered by anything or anyone else. Curtains were great and blocked the sun comfortably, and you could sleep peacefully. Not only did you receive 2 bottles of water per day, but there was also a water cooler on the first floor that staff gave us permission to use (we asked!). Breakfast was plentiful, and there was variety (as well as a list from which you were invited to order a dish, too) if not the most delicious we have had.

CanadaLocation of hotel is on an ugly corner, a bit dodgy, especially to come after dark, after dinner...and difficult to find from the street. Also noisy at night and I am a heavy sleeper usually... But it is close to everything, so from that point of view, it was good.
Staff was very helpful and present. Beds were comfortable and room was clean. Breakfast was nice too, with eggs to order and plentiful.

We had a great stay here. The women at the reception were really helpful with booking our tours. I got sick before 1 tour and they helped us arrange a bus ride back and even a partial refund which I really didnt expect. They really went above and beyond to help us. Would definitely come back here! Thanks so much!

IndiaNothing comes to mind.
The staff was really courteous and gave their best to make our stay a memorable one. By far the most amicable reception I have received in any country. They even provide competitive rates if you organize your trips/tours from them. Even when I missed breakfast, they packaged it for me to go. If I ever get the chance to visit Hanoi again, I know where I will stay. Thank you for being such gracious hosts

United KingdomThe staff were incredibly accommodating, especially Ruby and Julie, who were knowledgable, enthusiastic and always ready to help. They made our stay much easier by helping us book a Halong Bay Cruise, watching our luggage, and making sure we got to our destinations safely! Location was convenient with lots of food places nearby, and room was clean and well-prepared. Would recommend this hotel to anyone - and will be coming back ourselves!

The service at the Royal was superb. The team looked after us through our three days with them, they even arranged a cake for my sons birthday during the Halong bay cruise and upon our return they had decorated our room and left cakes for my wife’s birthday a really nice touch. The staff were very knowledgable on restaurants and things to do in and around Hanoi. The hotel is well located on the edge if the old quarter and close to the attractions. The rooms were very clean everything worked so we’re well worth the money we paid. I would definitely recommend the royal to anyone coming to Hanoi.
