Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesHanoi La Selva Central Hotel & Spa is located in the heart of Hanoi's Old Quarter. The rooms were clean and spacious. They offered a diverse and large breakfast, and the staff was friendly and helpful. We stayed in Hanoi multiple times during our trip, and each time returned to Hanoi La Selva Central Hotel & Spa.

United KingdomAs mentioned, we did not like the room we checked into because it was not the same as the pictures, the pictures on booking.com are promotional/stylised photos that were not true to the size or style of the particular room we booked (Standard room). It was a little smaller than we expected and was badly decorated, with a large, out of place mural of a tree. The bed was also different to the pictures, and had no valances to hide the bed base. I think the pictures on booking.com for the standard room needs to be updated to show the tree mural, or the tree mural needs to be painted over completely, so that you can truly relax in the room. The room we moved into was better decorated and more stylish (A Junior suite) This is a lovely hotel, but rooms need to be like the photographs shown, to maintain expectations.
Great central location, and all the staff are brilliant, very polite and attentive, they speak brilliant English too and went above and beyond to ensure we had a comfortable stay! Good choice at breakfast and great service! Street facing rooms will have some traffic noise, but the noise is not too bad and it does quiet down in the evening. Rooms are clean with nice bathrooms. We were not happy with the room we checked into (Standard room) because it did not look like the pictures, so we asked to move rooms. The reception staff were so kind and efficient, they handled our request very well and helped us move into a different room straight away. This new room was much larger and better decorated (Junior suite) The manager apologized to us in person, and the reception staff checked if we were happy in the new room the next day, so we feel they really do care about the guests experience here.

United Arab EmiratesThe location of the hotel is perfect, accessible to walkable touristic places (Hoan Kiem Lake, Beer street, and etc). Grab Bike was also not expensive to go from one place to the other. I stayed in a Superior Double room for 3D/2N, room was clean and it was quiet. The room has amenities like: shampoo, bath gel, toothbrush, bathrobe, mini bar and safe box. Breakfast was nice and with good view as its on the top floor. Tourist Map also available from reception. As a Solo traveler, i felt safe staying in the area. Also very close to restaurants, spa's, market and bars. They have sofa in the lobby where you can stay for long period of time. The Room rate was very affordable even if its in a prime location. I want to emphasize on their staff, namely: Arthur, Percy, Daniel and Jackie. They were all very accommodating and Friendly.. Always there to give you a helping hand even Mango Shake.. :) I discovered a lot from them, places to visit and things to try. I also discovered that some of them are students and others have another job.. I salute this boys who works very hard. They are Hanoi La Selva Central Hotel's greatest asset.

AustraliaDidn't expect such a small room, and it was a suite. The coffee at breakfast was disappointing but the food was ok. The price of the room didn't seem reasonable for what we got, but maybe it's the norm in Hanoi
Mr Jackie was super helpful and attentive to our needs, booking our tours and checking in on us regularly. All the staff very friendly and courteous. The location was optimal if you want to be amongst everything.

United StatesI actually liked everything about the property, I don’t have anything negative to say.
The property was in a great location due to the walkability. It is in a touristy area but perfect for sight seeing. Even though the room was in the middle of the action, it was surprisingly quiet, I didn’t hear any noise when trying to sleep (I was on the fourth floor so maybe that’s why). The room itself was very cute and clean. It was small, just a bed in a room but it was perfect for me as a solo traveler. The breakfast was included with stay, and was delicious. Also the staff was very friendly, I would stay here again.

Totally loved this hotel!! Booked it as a last resort as the original place I booked was so unsafe I left immediately upon check in. Booked La Selva in replacement and walked over to check in. Even though it was a last minute booking, the staff did the check-in swiftly (though they forgot to get me to pay until the next day). Location was fabulous, near the main junction in old quarter. Anytime I’m out in the old quarter area, I would walk back for a rest if I wish to, and it’s just a 5-10 minutes walk from everything. Circle K is just across the street. Room was fabulous, alil old in the toilet tiles and flooring, but overall clean and neat. They do housekeeping every day while I’m out. Laundry was 50k dong for 1kg, which would be done by the following day. Really great!!

FinlandThe room was chilly, since there was a cold front in Hanoi during our stay. AC helped a bit with max heat.

GermanyTruly one of the best places we stayed in Vietnam. The staff were incredible polite & helpful, we felt very welcomed. The rooms are beautiful designed, you can find everything you need, very clean and comfortable. The breakfast was the best we had on our entire backpacking trip. It’s „a la carte“ so no buffet, which we appreciate because buffets can get very dirty and smelly (and finally great pancakes with maple syrup and not honey like everywhere else). Location is great for first time visitors, you are right in the middle of all the touristic attraction, all walkable but still have your quietness when in the hotel. For the price this hotel is really exquisite. Unfortunately I was sick but the staff helped me so much, packing breakfast for me to the room, doing late check out and more. Definitely helped me recover faster!! Will come back to this one when again in Hanoi :-)

VietnamThe location is very convenient; the room is clean and well-equipped, also bed is of moderate firmness. What impressed me the most was the attentiveness and considerateness of the waitress. Due to overslept, we were rushed to meet up for the tour immediately. While waiting for the tour guide, an attentive waitress overheard the conversation and immediately prepared a whole set delicious sandwiches for us to take away. It was really a surprise. So considerate!

SpainThe rooms are quite small but if you’re planning to be out and about it shouldn’t be an issue!
It’s my second time staying here, because I love the location of the place, the breakfast and how quiet the rooms are at night. The reception staff is also lovely - Special thanks to the girl who made the effort to speak to us in Spanish so my mom could understand (sorry I don’t remember your name!). Will definitely be recommending this place and staying again in my next trip to Hanoi.
