How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Not for people that can't use stairs. Linen needs updating.
The location was great, we walked everywhere. Positioned just off the road so we couldn't hear beeping. Host was great, so helpful and accommodating.

Some mildew smell in the bathroom, but no big deal.
Great central location but still quiet at night. Room was spacious and had good amenities including a fridge. Moon was a wonderful host and was helpful to us getting to the airport. She was very great with communicating over text and happily answered our questions.

It was a really nice accommodation, comparing it to other accommodations with boosted reviews, this was genuinely good. The host was very helpful and answered quickly. Working AC and clean showers.

Overall are good, there is nothing we didn't like.
Host Moon is very helpful, friendly, and knowledge of day tour information very well. We are happy to stay there, a very convenient location near a few Michelin star food places. Moon also recommends many eating and massage places too. If you are keen on a day tour, you can arrange with Moon, very good price, better than outside tour group agents and hotels.

We stayed at Moon Cactus twice during our trip to Vietnam. The hostess Miss Moon went over and above our expectations and was so friendly, helpful and flexible. I’ve never had a host so amazing in my travels. Communication was very easy and are stay was effortless. We were offered assistance with our bags as there isn’t a lift but for us that wasn’t an issue as only had backpacks and needed to get our daily steps in. The location was great close to the centre but just off the side street which meant it was very quiet. Thank you for everything!!!

We stayed at Moon Cactus twice during our trip to Vietnam. The hostess Miss Moon went over and above our expectations and was so friendly, helpful and flexible. Clean and spacious room. Excellent location - very close to St Joseph Cathedral and walking distance to many places of interest. Ms Moon (host) is very helpful and replies to messages quickly.

The owner was very helpful. The location was central and it was off the Main Street so quite quiet. Had a balcony and a large room which was comfortable.

This was fine for us, but don't stay if you cannot handle steep steps.
Moon is such a fantastic hostess! She helped us out when we needed help with the hospital, and was always attentive and kind. The room was a good base of operations as we were travelling to Cat Ba and Tam Coc too.

LOCATION Located in the most convenient place in Hanoi Old Quarter. It’s within at least 2-minute walking distance to St. Joseph’s Church and many restaurants and shops. HOTEL OWNER/MANAGER The best part is the owner Ms. Moon. She went over and beyond my expectations. Not only did she help me in booking my transportation between Hanoi and SaPa, she also booked all my transportation needs from SaPa to Ninh Binh to Halong Bay then back to Hanoi. Moreover, her rates are cheaper than if you booked in other agencies. She really took care of me even though I won’t be staying at her hotel once we go back to Hanoi. Ms. Moon, thank you so much for giving your best in making my vacation an unforgettable one.

Nothing negative to say about this place.
Perfect location for walking to the Old Quarter. Spacious room. Host was incredibly accommodating. We were given excellent instructions for self check-in in the early hours.

An extremely cozy place with just about anything one could ask for. The owner is super helpful, kind, friendly and understanding. Perfect location near the city center, yet it's still very quiet. I can only recommend - it was an absolute pleasure to stay there 🙂

Môn is the nicest and most helpful host I've had in Vietnam! Also, her English is very good. She contacted me through WhatsApp the day before I arrived, to make sure everything was clear. She even let me choose which room I wanted! The location is perfect: it's in a side street in the middle of the old quarter, which makes that you don't hear any of the street noises when you're in the room. The room is clean and tidy. I felt really welcome and at home here. Thanks, Môn!
