Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomAn outstanding homestay. So and her family make you feel so welcome, she's great to talk to and will share her culture and stories with you. We organised treks through her which were great and they all supported the local community. The food was very good. Contact So before you arrive and she will help organise a taxi to the homestay. The views are amazing and I liked the location being out of Sapa itself. Our highlight of being in Vietnam, book and you will not be disappointed.

IndonesiaThe food was average but we really enjoyed the location. It is very scenic and far from the busy Sapa town. Not many taxis know the way to the honestly from Sapa so contact the hotel first and they will arrange a taxi for you.

SingaporeIt's quite far from Sapa center, maybe around 30 mins and the roads going to the property can be quite scary but once you reach the place and see the view, it's worth the trip!
The house itself is amazing, it's a traditional Hmong house and the view is beautiful. Our host So is the friendliest and can speak English so the communication was not a problem. We've learned a lot about the Hmong tribe as she toured us around Cat Cat Village. They have a lot to offer in their menu which is freshly prepared in house. Will definitely be back!

IndiaIt is far from the town center. While it was not an issue for me, a taxi is needed to get to the town center market.
The owner is very friendly and is just one request away for any requirement. The location is quiet, in between the rice fields.

GermanyAwesome location for trekking, super nice owner. Everyone was so helpful. Food was food, hotpot was also really nice. It was also possible to participate in a traditional dinner that was awesome. We had a rainy day and there were activities like batic that we tried, which was really fun! Furthermore taxi service was provided and everything that we asked for was provided. The facilities were new and absolutely clean. Beds were comfy, bed sheets nice and warm and the view was awesome. Use the offered taxi service to get there. It is cheaper and better than any other taxi you will find.

SwedenNothing to comment on.
Great hotel with a spectacular view of the Sapa valley. The host is super kind and great to talk to about the area. The food they serve is good, you can’t really go anywhere else since it’s in a very remote and unaccessible place. The road up there is very not good, it wasn’t a problem since they helped us with taxi to and from the hotel. The rooms are not heated, so they get quite cold when it’s cold outside.

United KingdomA few touches such as small towels and extra pillows on the bed would have been nice. A solution for cold temperatures such as extra blankets or hot water would be a great touch since heating isn't available.
Host was very welcoming and attentive. She offered us great suggestions of what we could do about the area. Views from the home stay were outstanding. Really fun cultural art activities.

NetherlandsEverything!! The view from the bed is stunning! You can open up the windows and step outside to the balcony. The host is such an impressive woman, she works really hard and always has a smile on her face. She helps you with everything. We were there around Tet and got invited to celebrate this with her family, super sweet. I also did a workshop painting with bees wax, which was nice (and now I have a great souvenir). It's about 30 mins on the motorbike (which you can rent at the homestay), but the roads can be a bit tricky.

GermanyThe rooms are nice, spacious and clean, just be advised that the walls are thin. If you are trying to get some sleep early in the evening, the owners and guests usually still sit downstairs eating, drinking and talking. Earplugs are advisable. But this is my only "complaint", the stay was one of the highlights of my entire Vietnam trip.
Exceptional stay. If I go back to the Sapa region, this would be the only place I would book. The crew is amazing (especially the owner) and they do incredible food at the villa itself. No need to even leave if it's a rainy day. If you arrive via taxi, make sure the driver speaks to the owner about the location in advance, especially if you arrive at nighttime. The location is definitely remote, but it is worth the journey. Photos on Booking are accurate and the view from the place is as amazing as it looks.

- amazing host, very attentive and helped us with everything that we needed including taxis, bike hire, food and drink. Also spoke very good English, even more impressive to hear that she taught herself! - the homestay itself was stunning, it’s in a very serene location away from the surprisingly busy town of Sapa and the views are spectacular - the rooms were a good size and everything was very clean. Food was also nice, we had the family meal too which I would recommend
