How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

A lot of noise from other guests, as there is no limit for arrival time at night.
Excellent home with wonderful view ,peaceful after some time spent in Hanoi, staff super reactive.

No heat or air conditioning. It was 12*C outside, so I was not warm inside my room.
Great location in the Sapa valley. The trekking guide provided by the hostel ($12/day) was superb.

We had a problem with the hot water faucet, but when we asked for help from the staff it was resolved.
Spectacular view. The amenities were fine. The staff were very attentive.

A little bit far from sapa center.
The view of the room was stunning, probably one of the best features of the place. The room is very spacious and well equipped with everything you need for a getaway in Sapa. The staff were very helpful and put their best efforts to ensure we had a wonderful stay, helping out with advise on what to do around Sapa, accommodating early luggage storage as well.

There were no complete blackout curtains in our room and just some roller shades instead.
Very friendly and kind staff. They went above and beyond to make us feel welcomed and enjoy our stay during our honeymoon, even upgrading our room with a view for no extra charge and leaving us each a small local cultural gift. Facilities were excellent and the buffet breakfast absolutely amazing for a great price.

The walls of traditional Hmong houses are a bit thin.
The view from the homestay is so beautiful and I like that it is slightly aware from the main center,so it's not too noisy. The staffs are attentive and helpful making me feel welcome and safe. The breakfast option is plenty and the facilities is great.

The window could not be opened and the staff resolved it quickly.
The room has a warm comfortable feeling, the view can be good depending on which floor you stay. The staff is amazing, friendly and very helpful, I enjoyed the breakfast as well. Wonderful place I definitely recommend.

Some staff don't know English
Our initial room wasn’t the cleanest but the staff quickly helped us to change rooms/ apologised for the error. Couldn’t fault the service for the rest of the stay and breakfast was great. Home nicely located at the top of Sapa, good showers and comfy beds. Would stay again.

The road to the homestay is a bit difficult to find and steep
The staff and host are very kind and very very accommodating. Language barrier was not a problem even though we used translators but all messages were conveyed clearly. They was very helpful in many ways. I will definitely recommend this home.

The hairdryer was bit old

No tea options available at breakfast left hot drinks for the meal period limited.

Phone signal is weak and sometimes almost non-existent
