Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.

United StatesConstruction noise came from adjacent room, motor bikes of construction workers parked in front lawn of our unit, host stationed very close to our unit. These issues are minor and fixable and will make a big difference for guests who value privacy.
Love the spacious room, high ceiling, outdoor shower, free bicycle/motor bike, common kitchen area, lots of plants/trees, quiet neighborhood, gorgeous beach views, and accommodating host.

AustraliaI hate to say it because it’s not about the property and the Homestay itself is absolutely great. I was loving it all until 5pm when the karaoke started on the public beach pathway right outside my bedroom. It was so loud and screeching I could feel the reverberations in my bed. Maybe it’s not every night but particularly for western travellers who aren’t so used to karaoke it may be helpful to know.
The room and particularly the outdoor shower and bathroom were great. I love the space they’ve created for the outdoor shower, felt like being in Bali. The location is on the beach, you can’t really swim there though. It’s in amongst a very local fishing village which is great and beautiful but be warned it’s not easy to find a meal there, I used grab delivery.

United StatesHard mattress place far out cost a lot in transportation place hard to find! Constant delays for drivers to get out to move mopeds out of way on farm road! My host never came as promised, no staff, only a poor security man plumbing issues sink was jammed no room cleaning loud construction in yard worker parked in front of our door & drilled in front of me causing dirt to fly in my food & drink - we had promises of a motocycle for our use but was broken - beach was quite stinky rotten fish smell with rotted lumber & squid nets! Not swimming beach constant swallow waves & wind
Sadly NOT much the booking was very unprofessionally handled. I booked for 6 nights it was confirmed but i was told only 4 nights leaving me no room on biggest holiday!
