Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomHugo’s is a bit out of the centre of town.
A lovely, large, light and airy room with balcony looking south over the pool. Hugo has a mixture of dorm and private rooms - all spotlessly clean. A simple breakfast was included; we had the optional home cooked dinner which was delicious, enormous and very good value. Free pick up was a bonus too.

RussiaI have to notice some things I would like to have. 1) Bed curtains. It's nice to have them to change clothes for example especially when there are men in the room and the only bath is occupied. Also when you sleep and someone uses torch into your eyes, you're waken up (and new people checked in at 4am will do that for sure even if they are quiet). I would like to have this level of privacy. They offer you to use your blanket. 2) The area is not in the city centre so it's 20 mins to walk to restaurant with locals prices. For me it's totally fine to be honest but I have to mention. Anyway you can take their bicycle for 2 hours. 3) It's a bit too humid inside. 4) Upd: I think they don't change beddings always after visitors cause the only pink bedsheet welcomed several guests. 5) Upd: The commercial attitude. When my another stay was cancelled suddenly they have me a choice to pay 70% more during Tet or not to get any breakfast. It could be fine but when I tried to come after Tet, trying to be nice and not booking place for 95 so to help them to save up commission fee, they asked me to pay 100 (their neighbors with the same price 95 get after paying commission 75 only). Yes, your place is nice but if you want better price, set it in booking, but don't treat me like that. It ruins impression. I'm sorry to edit my ref and changing rate. 6) Scooters aren't in good condition and they cost 150vnd per day but in the city you can find 100vnd a bit better quality even (the owner tried to convince me it's not possible but I had 3 great riding days from rental shop).
I spend there 1 week. This is a small property with 3 private rooms and 1 dormitory. You can see how hard they work... for relatively small money! Even there are some points they need to improve it's 10 from 10! Would love to come back... 1) They clean everyday, but change beddings only if you ask them. 2) Breakfast is very nice: eggs and pancakes both are so tasty (I can't say same about coffee but it's not very important). 3) They complimented guests with bananas some days. Also they always give you a huge termoflask with hot water to let you to make tea and coffee for yourself, it's super hospitable... just my heart got melted when I found it refilled waiting for me on the garden table (after the whole day ride is so precious)! They also don't mind if you use their fridge to put something. 4) There is a swimming pool and it's perfectly clean (everyday they care about it), although I never used it, I don't like to swim. For me it was great to have swings and rocking chair and hammock! They invited me to come and use it when I moved to another hostel... amazing! 5) They provide 2 hours of bicycle usage, enough to go out for a lunch and groceries. When there were very few guests, they let me to take it for 4 hours. 6) Children are very friendly and cute, it's nice to see them playing and treat each other with love, they also help their parents... all the family always give you a sincere smile and getting facing with you. 7) Beds are very comfy. The whole place helps you to rest your soul.

IrelandThe owners have made what could have been a disastrous trip for us much better (we had a small accident), and we are so grateful for all their help. The room is clean and spacious with a comfy bed and a very hot shower.we had two bed side tables with lamps which is not that common here and makes the stay so much nicer. We borrowed bicycles to go around phong nha which was super handy. They also booked a kayaking tour for us and that was the best day we had in Vietnam so far. Incredible place.

GermanyThere is nothing more you could expect from a Homestay. We can really recommend it.
Great Homestay in Phong Nha in the middle of beautiful nature, still not far from the central street with supermarkets and restaurants. Hugo and his lovely family made as feel welcome and helped us with everything we needed at any time. They offer a small breakfast, family dinners, rent scooters and even help you with booking a bus cheaper than you can find it on any app. Was a very pleasant stay.
