How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
Guidelines and standards for Reviews

Most likely you gonna need a motorbike or a bicycle, since the guesthouse is about 20-30 minutes away from the town. It didn't matter to me, since anyways my intention was to explore the area on the scooter, which i planned to rent at the guesthouse.
Spacious room with nice seating area on the terrace. The guesthouse is located next to the river. Has a pool to chill. The kind owner picked me up from the bus stop late evening and also gave me a lift to the bus stand early morning when I left. You can rent a motorbike or a bicycle at the guesthouse. A light breakfast is included (don't expect to much though...)

Forbidden to use bicycles more than 2 hours and outside the city (?!?) , however you don’t need a mountain bike to visit the district , the road is suitable for a city bike ( even if the owner will try to convince you to rent a mountain bike 150 000 vnd/day… ) business is business of course but …Since I’m in Vietnam that’s the first time that I have to deal with such a strange behaviour
Beautiful place , and clean , Phong Nha has amazing landscapes and nice little villages around that you can discover by walk

Cold showers and rained heavy so water flooded area by steps which made it dangerous to walk through

Room was really damp, bathroom smelt quite bad. Bikes were advertised as free but we got charged at the end of our stay 35,000VND per use. Bikes were not good quality so we wouldn’t have used them if we knew. Staff were helpful when asked but not as proactively helpful as other homestays in Vietnam.
Spacious rooms, good breakfast. Close to town/restaurants. Very good value for money!! We wanted to check out a day early and they accommodated this very well, moving our bus and didn’t charge us.

We found a cockroach in our pillow which was a bit of a shock, but in the morning we just changed it. And we had a cold shower which was a bumper after the excursion, but ok!
Hugo was very kind, and the location is perfect as starting point for cave excursions. Hugo helped us for booking the excursion which was awesome!

The only thing I didn’t like was the A/C not being turned on during the day because the dorm wasn’t full. 38 degrees outside and the room was too hot so it’s just not right that they don’t turn on the AC. Was turned on from 9pm to 6am and after 30min of being turned off the room was already impossible to stay in.

Hugo kindly offered to collect us early In the morning from the bus stop telling us to call him when we arrived and he would be there. Our bus got in earlier than expected at 3am. We waited and repeatedly called Hugo for 20 minutes to no answer while everyone else got off the bus and went to their home stays. At this point we decided to get a taxi to the homestay instead of wait for Hugo. When we arrived the gate to enter the homestay was locked and we couldn’t enter (Hugo later said we should have gone through a side gate that was not visible so late at night and could have been another property). We then had to pay for another taxi fare back into town to find a place to sleep. Right as we got to our new room at 4am Hugo finally called us and took us to his place. When we asked Hugo what happened he said he was tired and our calls didn’t wake him up. We understand this can happen but we really would have appreciated at least an apology or a refund for our taxi fares but Hugo was indignant and said If we weren’t happy then we could stay elsewhere. Overall this was probably a one off and shouldn’t discourage others from staying here but it definitely tainted what would have otherwise been a very nice stay.
Nice airy space, rooms has nice big windows, bike free to use and moped to rent. Good food cooked by Hugo’s wife who was very nice and hospitable

- A really bad smell of sewage from the bathroom drains. The owner said it was a result of the “weather” but all other rooms were full so we couldn’t move. - We booked a family room but we were given a smaller double room (that stank of drains!) and he charged us the same price. - horrible smelling stains on the bed sheets. - low water pressure
Nice pool and the owner was very kind to pick us up to and from the bus drop off early in the morning. Large windows in the bedrooms and warm shower.

Location : a little too far from the town. No mattresses on sunbeds. Owner's attitude: after the stay which we extended twice, we were cheated on bus tickets - we agreed with the owner on a price for a VIP bus (the agreed price was equal to that available in town, VND 50k lower than initially proposed). Eventually we were placed into an ordinary bus (slightly cheaper, much less comfortable). Finally we were given the difference in price back, but that did not compensate the loss in comfort. While booking we were promised free room upgrade which we did not receive, however we did not complain about it, as we were satisfied with the ordinary double room.
The homestay itself, big bright room, good breakfast. Low price.
