Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesTrung and his family were great hosts. We really enjoyed our stay and especially talking with Trung about the local area. He also helped us with making the most of our visit. His mom was particularly sweet and caring. We were in the family room, which was beautifully done and super accommodating (two full bathrooms!).

United KingdomThe house is on the edge of Bac Ha, only a 10 minute stroll from the market place, but next to small farms. A relaxing and peaceful place. My room was excellent, really comfortable, containing everything I might need. Trung is incredibly knowledgeable and helpful. He gave me a route to ride his motorbike through the hills, arranged onward bus travel and provided delicious meals. I had a busy couple of weeks of holidays, three nights in Bac Ha was a perfect way to slow down and enjoy local life.

TaiwanThere are many dogs in the neighborhood and they bark a lot. But no worries, they don't bite.
Large room and very comfortable bed. The homestay is closed to a circle trek where you can see beautiful mountains and farms. Huy Trung helped me book the early bus to Hanoi, which is not shown on website. He kindly sent me to the bus station as well.

United KingdomWe stayed one night while passing through Bac Ha. The room was very comfortable and breakfast was excellent. Trung was very kind and helpful. He showed us where to get an oil change for our bikes. We would certainly have stayed another day and night and explored the area with Trung but we didn’t have time unfortunately. Gucci the dog was a real bonus too!

PortugalWe ended up staying two nights at Mr Trung's family home. He helped us with the travel from Hanoi to Bac Ha. The rooms are good and clean, and there is a small swimming pool where you can relax. We can have breakfast and dinner with his family, which is very confortable and the food is very good. We had the chance to have a day tour with Mr Trung and if you are searching for a quiet place with great landscapes, this is for you. We just wanted some peace and it was perfect. He also prepared a picnic by the river, it was only us and the water flowing. If you need a break, but still enjoying Vietnamese life, we think this is a good place for it.

I booked a one-day trekking through Trung and had great day with my guide Tao. IsraelTrung (pronounced Chung), the owner, was super nice, and very helpful. We joined his family for a 'family dinner experience' - highly recommended.. The rooms are nice and clean, and there's a nice (shallow) pool that is nice for cooling down a bit in the summer. Trung's recommendations on a motorbike circuit were just awesome! Its much better to get to the Bac Ha market early, so don't think twice!

Beautiful and very spacious room (the family room) with a small pool in front. Mr Trung is a very kind, creative and hospitable host. He also hosted a very interesting day tour to some hill tribe minorities in the Bac Ha region. Tourism in this region is not so developed, so it was a relief to downtown Sapa.

CanadaMy 2 night stay at Huy Trung Homestay was wonderful. I arrived in Lao Cai via overnight train and then transferred to bus to Bac Ha. It was market day (Sunday) in Bac Ha - a great place to people watch and marvel atthe local produce and goods for sale (everything from plums which were in season to puppy dogs and pots and pans). In the afternoon, my host took me on a half day tour of the valley via motorbike. The scenery was stunning with corn crops and rice fields on sloped terraces. We hiked part of the way back to town. The second day, we headed out for a full day tour of the area. It was incredible to not just see the beauty of the mountains, but to see the people in their homes and their fields and to learn more about the tribal people in North Vietnam and their way of life. Incredible! The accommodations were comfortable and clean with excellent bathroom facilities. Meals with the host and his family were excellent!!

This must be the best homestay in Bac Ha! Rooms are comfortable and spotless. Mr Huy and his family created a wonderful and peaceful spot and help you with everything you might need. They will come fetch you in Ha Noi, drop you off at the airport, arrange guided walks and visits to nearby markets and villages. Every morning they serve a great breakfast and in the evening we all sit down together for a wonderful meal! This place is the best!
