Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe announcements were not loud therefore as we were on the top floor enjoying the sun, we didn't hear the announcement where they mentioned on the trip to the cave and so we missed that so was very disappointed.

United KingdomThe set menu dinner, maybe having 2 options for the main, starter and pudding would be better as we had people in our group that struggled to eat a couple of the courses.
The boat was nice, the staff where helpful. The boat trips where good and well organised. The rooms where much bigger than we expected and was lovely to have a little balcony.

United KingdomTwo sizeable annoyances unfortunately. 1. Our room was right by the anchor meaning it banged all night, even vibrating the bed. The second night I moved to an empty room about midnight because I'd just had enough. It was somewhat quieter. 2. They send you out on a "day boat" for a sizeable part of your short stay. We booked the Indochine for some 5 star luxury. The day boat is like 2 star. Other cruise liners (e.g. Aqua of the Seas) had their own day boat and the quality and food served on that looked equally amazing as the cruise liner, whereas ours was basic and shared between other boats, I think Indochine unfortunately outsource the 8 hour trip. It was disappointing with low quality food, although the guide Tony was great. Other little things that could have made it better - we wanted a massage but there was no staff on board to do it, there was a grand piano (out-of-tune) but no pianist (so we played ourselves), the outside jacuzzi was only luke-warm and the weather was cold so not so enjoyable.
Pre-cruise: communication was effective and professional. On the cruise: Beautifully decorated and well maintained boat. I don't know why anyone would choose the personality-less sleek and shiny ones for Ha Long. Lovely staff - attentive and warm. Excellent food - the breakfast and lunch buffets especially. Little touches like warm teas on arrival, a blanket and towel for the day trips, free water etc all very nice. Lots of space and area to relax both inside and out - it's one of the bigger boats with 110 capacity but thankfully for our 2 nights no more than 60 aboard, most of which were larger groups from Taiwan and Iran. Almost all people are just one night. Only 4 of us 2 nights, but food and trips were not repetitive which was good. The cabins were really big, well-designed and a lovely balcony to sit on. En-suite also large and well stocked, lovely hot shower.

We felt very comfortable from the beginning to the end. Our junior suite was upgraded free of cost to a honeymoon suite. Our suite was very spacious, luxurious and on the quite deck of the cruise. That was amazing!! All staff members were very professional, freindly and helpful. The food was excellent and it exceeded our expectations. The activities like swimming in the bay, kayaking or riding the sampans to the light caves in the Lanha Bay was magical. On the way to the light caves we even spotted some rare monkeys up the hills which was a bonus. Squid fishing was our highlight and we got lucky to catch one squid. It was a good experience. Of course, we let the squid go back to his natural habitat. At the end of our stay in the Indochine Cruise we decided to go to Nin Bihn. The staff (Bryan) went over the top and arranged for a very comfortable pick up from the Pier to our Hotel in Nin Bihn. It was perfect!! Overall I would definitely recommend Indochine Luxury Cruise to other couples and family.

SwedenSome of the announcements were only in Vietnamese, so we were not sure if we missed anything. There could be more activities for children to keep them occupied. More dairy and allergy alternatives during all meals would have improved the experience.
We enjoyed the kayaking a lot. It was very fun, and people were given the opportunity to either kayak or be in a boat rowed by one of the locals. We were free to roam the area and venture into the caves. The staff were so friendly and helpful, and there were regular updates over the tanoy. One of the staff even offered to give us their own sunscreen lotion. They made sure our onward travel was sorted even though it wasn't booked through them. The room was beautiful and spacious, and despite all the parties happening on neighbouring boats docked close by, you could not hear anything due to well insulated windows. Slept like a baby!
