The retreat allows you to venture away from the hotel a little and we noticed quite a bit of rubbish and plastic on these more remote sections of the retreat. The staff take good care of the immediate area and to make this hotel better they should spend time cleaning the entire resort.

The surroundings and architecture of Am Lam Retreat are beautiful. We were kindly given a free upgrade to a room on the beach front - the rooms are very spacious and clean and the atmosphere of the retreat is incredibly relaxing. The hotel offers multiple days out for various activities (at a high price though) and offer the free day trip to Nha Trang which is great if you want to see some of the attractions in the city. Not only does the hotel have the 5 star facilities, but the jungle style and wonderful staff make it such a more enjoyable experience - a shout out to Kim our butler who was very attentive, polite anecdote smiley :) We would absolutely recommend this hotel - it is the best we have ever been to!

The restaurant was good, but not as excellent as the rest of the retreat.

Incredible and tranquil location in a beautiful bay. The Ocean View Pool Villa was superb with full privacy and perfect facilities. Everything was taken care of by the highly attentive personnel - special shoutout to Tân who was always one step ahead on ensuring a smooth experience. If you have the chance, the yoga class with Ms Hue is highly recommended!

Leaving!

This was the best hotel we have had the pleasure staying in!! Everything exceeded our expectations! The view is spectacular, the room was special with a secluded private pool, the food is sublime and most of all the team looking after us were so kind and attentive. Highlights for us were the yoga with Hue in the spectacular yoga sala and deck on the beach, the snorkelling excusion team, the spa team, the restaurant staff. We will be back!!

Some small things could be improved, but nothing major: - shower a bit tricky with hot cold water - wine list definitely needs improvement: for a 5 star place where you pay 2 or 3x I would expect to see better quality wine. For example: room bar fridge had only 4 bottles of white wine that were all from 2015 or 2016, from basic brands, meaning they would no longer be drinkable, especially with storage in Vietnam. Wine list also had many cheap wines priced 3-6 times their retail value, with very few above 3.6 rating. I like my wine, and this was a disappointment. Wine list needs fixing. - pool was nice but cold in cloudy days, not much you can do about this. - butler service only OK: not much proactive attitude. We had to ask for things vs being offered things to do. Maybe we just did not click. - cocktails were very basic with very basic spirits and glassware. G&T with Gordon’s gin at a 5 star?

Remote location for good relaxation. Transfers from mainland by boat are good. Pool villa was great and spacious, private beach was nice. Restaurant has amazing view. Food was good and waiting staff were excellent. Very nice experience to have overall. Music at dinner was lovely, especially Vietnamese instruments.

This is not a place for the elderly or for ones with a health condition. Our room was a stiff climb up 60 steps and this was an improvement on the first choice at 90 steps. Also, the only way to get to the place is by boat, even if it is not on an island and the climb in an out of the boat is not easy, at all. Frankly, they should state that much more clearly on the website. OK, our room was called "treetops" but we did not realise we had to take this very literally. Another thing to bear in mind is that the ONLY thing to do is to do... almost nothing except relax and maybe swim.

This is a high quality (and high price) resort where you are completely isolated and safe. Staff are all friendly and the food is excellent and so are all services in general. Our room was very spacious and we had a beautiful view. We had a personal butler and she was fantastic.

Unfortunately given rainy season, there was unideal weather. The resort offered “activities” but almost all of them could not actually take place because of the rain and wind. That was disappointing.

Location was beautiful despite being in rainy season. (It would be lovely when the sun comes out!) The staff was very nice and the food was great as well! The rooms were a beautiful retreat away and I would gladly recommend to friends and family!

+ The transporting boat (from lounge to resort) can be renovated or even upgraded to a bigger one as it was shaky some time. This should really be considered as part of resort’s facilities and your overall “experience”. I’d seriously consider this especially if traveling with elderly/children. + Food menu is acceptable in terms of pricing but can add a bit more of variety.

Loved the vibe of the resort, very relaxing and truly a retreat experience. The staff was attentive and welcoming. My butler Ngan was very helpful and accommodating, giving advices on the resort and our transportation arrangement etc. The room is extremely spacious and comfortable with relatively new facilities.

A little too expensive considering other luxus hotels in Vietnam and the poor quality of the sea. The resort is very clean, but if you walk on the beach on the left or right side of the resort, you can find a lot of dirty on the beach or on the jungles (old plastic bottle, shopping bags, old boxes et cetera). The resort shold take care of the environment also around the resort and request and ask the lifeguards who spend most of the day looking at their mobile phones to clean the beach a little further away from where hotel guests bathe. In the sea immediately in front of the three beach villas, it is unfortunately not possible to bathe well because there are many shallow rocks that prevent swimming: this should be communicated when booking. In addition, the sea is not blue or light green as it appears in the photos (perhaps the sea is like this during other seasons) but dark green and in the afternoon murky and with no visibility. We spent 4 days in this beautiful resort.

The resort is beautiful, quite and directly in the jungle, with a lot of things to do, we stayed 4 nights, our villa on the beach was fantastic and very luxourious.

It didn’t bother us as given the location this is to be expected but there are ants everywhere (even in the bed). Thankfully house keeping comes twice a day and bug spray is provided. The lunch/dinner menu could include more diversity.

The staff were all so welcoming, friendly and helpful. We had an amazing Bulter called Bao who we cannot say enough good things about, he really made our stay. The beds were so comfortable and the rooms were overall clean. The facilities were great and we really enjoyed our ocean view villa with pool. The views and scenery are fantastic. The spa was very good and relaxing. Bonus the have cute pet dogs.

The property is amazing with great team members. one of my favorite resort to stay and highly recommended. The food they serve mostly are organic which are cultivating within the resort and also very eco friendly place.
