Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

KyrgyzstanThis boutique hotel is located right in the center of Hanoi's old quarter, many attractions are at walking distance. The hotel staff is really supportive. My room was spacious and comfortable, and breakfast was delicious. As mentioned by others, to access the hotel, one needs to come through a convenience store and use stairs.

United StatesLa Belle Maison is a wonderful option in Hanoi. I like doing research and this place didn’t disappoint at all. First off it’s right by the lake and walking distance to many spots around the old quarter. The facilities are impressive new and clean, there was no noise in the evenings that interrupted our sleep. And the staff is amazing : Sebastian (front desk) is always eager to help you out with tips and anything you need . Breakfast is incredible they prepare every morning for you a selected menu in their rooftop, so you can have a great start of your day, breakfast lady is super friendly. I cannot recommend enough this place, stop your research and stay here. By the way, the circle k downstairs is a positive since you don’t have to go far to buy water and snacks at anytime… it was not a problem at all.

GermanyThe hotel was absolutely perfect, the room was huge and super clean. The á la carte breakfast was always prepared fresh and tasted great. Sebastian was super tentative and even helped us book different trips during our stay and gave us great recommendations of how to best spend our time in Hanoi. Overall a perfect stay.

AustraliaEntering through a crowded Circle K might not be for everyone! We found it unique! (Belle Maison staff carry your bags upstairs for you so that isn’t a problem).
The room was lovely, stylish and comfortable with fantastic French colonial character which is exactly what I was looking for (gorgeous original shutters etc, very charming). It was a calm retreat from the bustling streets of Hanoi. Bed is enormous! We had a lovely balcony over the street up amongst the flowering treetops, perfect for a cup of tea. The breakfast room on the 6th floor has an incredible view over the lake, a serene start to the day. We enjoyed the a la carte menu for breakfast which is a nice change from buffet breakfasts. In typical Vietnamese hospitality the breakfast was generous- enormous in fact! The staff are what really made the stay special, Sebastian and his team are highly professional and kind, super helpful about anything we asked or needed. Sebastian is so knowledgeable and helpful- found haircuts, researched pottery purchases, booked airport taxis etc. Five stars for Sebastian and all the staff, (breakfast chef was delightful!)

AustraliaEverything was fine, just two things to watch: if you can’t manage stairs this place is not for you. Also a blind across the window above the main door would keep light out of the room from the hall: help better sleep.
Location was excellent. Stayed on Friday night and could walk around market and lake so easily. Very picturesque. The old wood furniture and French Vietnamese feel was lovely. The balcony had amazing lake view, although the rooftop area is not officially open, we were able to take our own drinks up, the breeze was cool and view of lake at night unbeatable. The bed was comfortable, sheets soft and clean, bathroom lovely, bath huge: I could float in it. Breakfast good, lovely fruit.

ThailandNothing, everything was PERFECT!
What an amazing stay! I took a risk on this place when I booked it, as it was newly opened and had no reviews. WOW, did I make the right choice! From the moment we met Sebastian and the team, they couldn’t have been more hospitable! The warmth and kindness from every staff member made this hotel an unforgettable experience. We stayed in a lake view room, which was spectacular. We were so impressed with all the modern amenities, including a hot light in the shower that you can turn on to stay warm while wrapping your towel around you! The room's decor was beautiful, it was cleaned extremely well, and the bed was so comfortable. The little things were thought about, such as toothbrushes, earplugs, and a steamer provided by the hotel. The views from the breakfast room were fantastic, and the coffee was perfect. The only thing I'm sad about is that next time I come to Hanoi, this hotel will be fully booked! Get in while you can!

AustraliaThere was a slight smell in my bathroom which I assume came from the pipes, but it seems to be only for my room specifically, as my friend's room across the hall was completely fine.
We arrived at night, and there was someone there to check us in and give us a refreshing welcome juice (ours was passionfruit). The concierges at reception were always very friendly and helpful :) It was a nice vibe. The hotel was also small so you don't get too many guests on top of each other. The room and bed were large and comfortable. The decor and boutique style were cute and had a "vintage" feel, something a bit different to your usual hotel. Our room was street side, on a pretty busy street, but they were thoughtful enough to leave some earplugs in the room for us - I didn't need to use them though. Rooms were clean and cool, and there was space to just relax after a day of adventuring around the city. There are no elevators, just stairs, which made the hotel feel like you were staying in a home (nice and cosy), which we liked, but just be aware if you have a lot of luggage - although the guys at reception always insisted on helping with our bags. The daily breakfast was nice (you can pick between 4 types - e.g. Pho or Western-style) and for me, there was a lot of food I never could eat everything they put out. We always had breakfast with lake view, so it was a relaxing start to the morning. The lady working the kitchen/cafe was also super lovely and accommodating. Thanks for a great stay, team!

ThailandIt was a little strange and disorienting to arrive late at night to a convenience store and have to climb several stories to get to the room. It was fine though, especially as the staff carried our bags up, but you definitely need to be able bodied to stay at this hotel
We loved the style of the room and the decoration of the hotel. We had a view over the lake and a balcony. Staff were so friendly and accommodating and made everything simple for us. Breakfast was good, probably as vegetarians we were a bit limited in choices but they made a lot of effort, providing a vegan option.

CanadaNot something that was an issue for me, but the number of stairs to be navigated to get to the rooms means elderly or mobility-challenged individuals might struggle at this location.
All of the staff were extremely friendly and helpful. In particular, Sebastian at the front desk was always ready to help out in any way required - recommendations, suggestions, bookings, you name it he was there to help at any time. Overall a very pleasant experience.

United StatesIt was a little weird that you have to traipse through a Circle K convenience store to reach the entrance of an otherwise fancy place. But not a problem, and it was an interesting, unique experience.
Right in the middle of the most walkable, pedestrian-oriented part of Hanoi.

United Arab EmiratesI think the only thing that was just a bit weird for me would be the toilet and shower. It's just glass cubicles, beside each other, and even though there's frosted glass covering about 5/6ths of the glass, it's just weird. But it doesn't take anything away from the elegance and beauty of the room! I mean there's a bath tub in the middle of the room, so if you're fine with that, then the toilet and shower issue is nothing!
You're right in the heart of the Old Quarter, about 2 minutes from the Water Puppet Theatre, about 5-10 minutes from the Night Markets, and about 20 minutes from the Train Street. The location at first does seem a bit weird, as you need to enter a Circle K and walk up some stairs before you reach a door that is the entrance to the hotel. But once you enter, it is quite lovely, and you are greeted with the most amazing and friendly staff. The room we booked overlooks the lake, and it's just stunning! You enter to a room with lovely interior design, and a bath tub sitting in the middle of the room beside the bed. It's modern with a bit of traditional Vietnamese designs on the windows, but also a bit of French influence too. The food is great! And quite a lot hahah. We both ordered the Vegan breakfast, and it really did hit the spot with fresh ingredients! The restaurant is on the top floor overlooking the lake through ceiling high windows. There are other breakfast options that look delicious as well! The process of checking in was a breeze. The staff were helpful, and gave recommendations of what to see, and where to eat. Checking out was even easier, and they provided transport to the airport that was roughly the same pricing as a Grab.

United KingdomEntrance to the hotel could be better sign posted as it’s via the ground floor convenience store, and the lack of lift with luggage to the upper floors wasn’t great as it was quite difficult manoeuvring up the narrow steep steps with heavy luggage.
The location was amazing and the views from both the room and breakfast room of Hoan Kiem Lake was great. Most importantly, my room was the best I’ve had in a long time!

Loved my stay here, after trying many boutiques in the old quarter. Sebastian the manager went to great lengths to ensure a comfortable stay.
