How guest reviews work
Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
- Politically sensitive comments
- Promotional content
- Illegal activities
- Personal or sensitive information (e.g. emails, phone numbers or credit card info)
- Swear words, sexual references, hate speech, discriminatory remarks, threats, or references to violence
- Spam and fake content
- Animal cruelty
- Impersonation (e.g. if the writer is claiming to be someone else)
- Any violation of our review guidelines.
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

Room was a bit small. View wasn’t great from the sky bar - mostly just of buildings next door.
Excellent spa - had this salt therapy sauna which was amazing! Few blocks away from the lake and shops. Bathroom was lovely. Rooftop pool was good too.

The pool was out of use for maintenance. We were not informed of this at time of booking and the pool was a big factor in our decision to stay here. You need a pool to cool off from City heat.

The room was slightly smaller than expected. It was ok for quite travelling for work, not for family vacation.
The hotel was quite new with nice deco. It's located in the old French sector so very convenient for restaurant and shopping. Had a massage in the hotel spa which was very good and just what I needed after the travelling.

Everything! The staff are super helpful and went out of their way to make sure we were happy and our travel plans went smoothly. The facilities are beautiful, particularly the rooms. We were a bit sad not to be staying longer!

Pool was a little small
Very high level of extremely professional and friendly service from all staff. Breakfast was superb. View from Restaurant, Room was very high standard, Right in the centre of Old Town.

The lights in the room were more for mood than practical. No full length mirror.
Mia at reception. Every hotel needs a Mia. All the staff were friendly and helpful but Mia was excellent nothing was to much trouble for her.

It was classy, beautifully decorated and the staff were excellent! They helped us with everything we needed including supplying a bday cake for my husbands milestone birthday. The breakfast was the best we have had in any Asian country. Great position. New hotel and fantastic service. We will definitely stay here again!

Everything about the hotel was perfect, the warm service provided by the receptionists, the helpful travels desk, the room facilities, the location, and the breakfast. The staff here speaks perfect English (way better than the custom at the airport😂) and are always willing to help. The facilities are excellent. Before I booked the hotel, I compared to lots of other choices in the old quarter and saw that the water pressure of the shower and the noise at night are common problems of hotels in the area. But Le Chanvre was great! It’s on a quiet street of this busy area and the shower works fine as well. Have to mention that as the hotel located in the center of the old quarter, it provides great convenience to explore the city. Almost everything is in walking distance. We totally enjoy the stay here. The breakfast was decent with a wide range of choices from traditional Vietnamese dishes to western ones. The coffee was so good. I even asked for the brand of coffee beans before I left haha. Choose the hotel if you are traveling here! You won’t regret it.

The room was a little small if you were staying for a long time but it was perfect for our short stay.
The location is fantastic for experiencing Hanoi. The welcome was so lovely, the staff were fantastic and couldn't have been more attentive and ready to give local advice. We had to delay our stay due to flight issues and the hotel were really understanding and communicative. The breakfast was one of the best that we had the whole time in Vietnam.
