Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesJust an fyi, no lift. Must be able to climb stairs
Wonderful place on a quiet street. Close to the old quarter. Wonderful room with a nice balcony and the ability to Cook there if you want to. Nice to sleep without the scooter and traffic sounds

ItalyThere are construction works, but it's not the property's fault.
The room was very cute, spacious and clean. The position is nice, not far from the old quarter. The owner found us a solution to leave the luggage till later in the evening, as we had a night flight.

PortugalThe owner was a funny man that despite the language barrier was very helpful and helped us even to leave our luggage after the check out and store them inside a locker. His daughter was very attentive throughout WhatsApp and gave support. It was a good option for a night, close to the station before departure. The area is calm and quiet, different from Hanoi old quarter.

The staff was super friendly! I asked to rent a room for a few hours due to sudden change in my travel itinerary and the owner quickly accommodated to my request.

NetherlandsOnly one thing: we didn't have a place to dry/hang our towels. That was a bit inconvenient.
The room was so homely, I felt like I was staying at a friend's place. It was nicely decorated in that way. The beds are comfortable. The location is great, just outside of the hustle and the bustle of old quarters, it felt more authentic. Old quarters are a 15 minute walk away. There is a very nice coffee place around the corner that serves vietnamese but also Italian style coffee. Mosquitos could be a problem, but mosquito nets are provided and that worked well for us. Last, but not least: the father who checked us in was very friendly and welcoming. His English was great. I would book this place again when coming back to Hanoi.

GermanyWe only stayed for a night, but there is really nothing negative to mention. Our stay was great, nothing to complain about.
Very nice, cozy room with all what you need. Including a separated kitchen Really clean. Very comfortable beds. The arrival and the attention provided by the hosts was top. The location is a bit hidden, at the end of an alleyway. For us this is not bad at all, on the contrary it contributes to the cozy atmosphere of the hole place. Also it keeps you away from the noisy streets of Hanoi.

Taiwanthe service is terrible. We paid 350,000 VND for airport transfer, but the driver go to shower and arrived late to pick us up. Laundry service is also very expensive. They charge 100,000 Vietnamese dong for anything under seven kilograms, even if it's just 2 or 3 kilograms.
The room is comfortable

NorwayNoisy, you hear everything from the courtyard/neighbors. Bring earplugs. Matress was a bit hard (even for me who likes hard matresses!)
Spatious apartment with all the amenities. Super nice hot showers. Lan and her father were helping with absolutely everything, couldn’t wish for better hosts. Perfect apartment for a family or a group of friends! Beautifully furnished and decorated, so you’ll feel at home! Walking distance to shops, restaurants, cafés, Train Street etc.

GermanyEverything was very good.
It was all very well organized from the very first moment of the airport pickup. The room was very comfortable and safe. There was good internet and light to get some work done with the computer. Great to have a water boiler and an electronic heating as Hanoi can get child in winter. Fair price. Central location. Grab was easy to use for mobility.

United StatesLocation is down an alleyway and was a bit difficult to find, especially since I arrived after dark. I wandered around a bit and asked people for help with directions, but even then I had difficulty. Clearer directions from the property owners would have helped. But quite simple really, I just needed to continue to the end of the alleyway. Taxi driver had trouble finding the location. There was no garbage can in the room.
Large, clean room. Comfortable bed and pillows. Hot pot, man at desk was friendly and super funny. I did not explore the area, just slept for the evening and left the next morning.

United KingdomThere is quite major construction happening nearby. Obviously not the hotels fault but if you are looking to sleep in you may be in for a rude awakening (no pun intended)
We loved it here. The old courtyard location gives it a more authentic feel than the average hotel in the old quarter. Location was good, very close to some of the main attractions. Communication from staff was great. We also used the laundry service, everything came back dry, smelling good and on time. Thanks for a great stay :)
