Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

GermanyThere's nothing worth mentioning.
- The wooden room offers two beds - we used one for sleeping and the other one for storing our clothes. - The house is well located in a quiet neighborhood. You need to walk by foot/motorbike to reach the house but that was even more fun. - The table on the balcony offers a great view and is perfect for having breakfast/dinner. - Sung, Chan and their children are very nice. We really loved talking to them in the kitchen. - We also did a private hiking tour with Sung in the surroundings which was great. Chan also was so kind to organize a private trip to Fansipan for us. - We always had breakfast and dinner that they prepared for us. Very delicious! - We prepared fried springrolls together with the family which was fun. If you want to be part of a Hmong family and learn about their culture this is the place to be.

ItalyIf you are looking for a real but beautiful homestay you can enjoy this family with their three children at Madama View Homestay. The location is perfect, on the side of the valley with an amazing view. If you want, you can also join them for dinner, taking part during the preparation. They are super nice. The rooms are clean. If you need they can also guide you during trekking. Super raccomended!

EstoniaThe owner was very helpful and speaking good English, they have nice family with children, you can experience real countryside vietnamese life. Beautiful breathtaking views! They are day by day developing the place to get it much better. Very private place compared many other homestays. What a colourful small path leading to home from main road (I mean all those ducks, chickens, buffalos, +bumpy road, which is full of professional scooter drivers). Our family is highly recommending that homestay. Food was great. Dinner was 5/USD per person and we loved it (3 nights).

GermanyChan and her husband are very nice and welcoming people. The place is in a beautiful setting amongst the rice terraces. We went on a trek with Chan and she took us to beautiful places in the valley, not too busy with other tourists. She speaks very good English and explained lots of interesting things about the Hmong culture and their lifestyle. We enjoyed our stay and the trek with Chan and would recommend it to anyone coming to Sapa. We were happy that we have chosen to stay with a local family in the village of Tavan and not in the city of Sapa.

PolandBed are quite firm but it’s very common in Vietnam. you also get a nice and warm blanket so it’s a plus as the night in Sapa might be very cold.
It’s a true Homestay where you can become a part of family. I absolutely enjoyed cooking dinner with the family. if you want to try to live a little bit like a local - that’s the place! the owners are also guides so they could take you for a trekking for additional payment. they also speak great English, so you won’t expert any language barrier.

VietnamSuper cozy wooden house overlooking the rice fields. Great views, warm blankets, and tranquility all around. What really made it for us though was Chan and Sung's hospitality. They made us feel part of the family, and we enjoyed greatly the opportunity of having dinner and chatting with them. They are both trekking guides, and know all the hikes around their village and the valley, and went the extra mile to accommodate our needs (which I know were a few!). Madame View is an authentic hmong homestay and will win your heart with its simplicity, beauty, and warmth.

We really enjoyed our stay at this homestay, it was an amazing experience. Chan and her family welcomed us with open arms and we had two very good meals with them and Chan even taught us how to make spring rolls and cook with her. We also did a trekking tour with her husband which was also super nice especially because their English is really good. We learned a lot about Vietnamese culture and life. The location is super nice and quiet in the middle of nature, the view from the rooms amazing and the accommodation simple and clean.

NetherlandsIt was an amazing location! And I was picked up by Sung from the sleeper bus early in the morning by motorbike, that alone saved a lot of hassle :) Sung and Chan both do great trekkings, very beautiful landscape. Great food. Love all the animals they have, the cutest kids and spacious rooms. Clean and simple, just the way I like it. And they go out of their way to make your stay pleasant. Loved every minute of it ❤️ Chan even taught me how to make spring rolls, haven't gotten the hang of the rolling part though. Need practice ;)

United KingdomHaving to leave. Perhaps one day I will live there.
Everything was amazing because of the amazing hosts, location and wonderful landscape! When I arrived in Sapa town it was cold, misty and wet (a contrast to the city of Hanoi) and I was collected by Sung (Father/husband of the family). We had a 25-30min wet and windy motorbike ride from the town, down to the village where the weather had cleared. At arrival to the house I simply cried at the shear beauty of the landscape and could not believe how lucky I was to be in such a beautiful part of the world. I did a couple of treks, one with Sung, one with his wife Chan. The stay is like staying with family or friends, not a posh hotel and so much better for it. It has what you need and no more, because you are there for the experience of the villagers and I was so privileged to eat and stay with the family and share a glimpse into their lives. I enjoyed it so much, that we all went on a mini break together to Phu Quoc the following week. We have become a new family. Both Chan and Sung are so hospitable and their three beautiful children made the whole experience/stay that much better for me "Uncle Lawrence". The location is fantastic, the real local food is amazing and I hope to return again at Xmas to celebrate with them and their wider family, who I got to know during my stay. The Hoang Family epitomise the Vietnamese hospitality. I was a solo traveller in a country I'd never visited before, but I was never alone because of the welcoming arms of the beautiful nation. Thank you!!!! See you soon! Comfort, I only put a smiley face, only because I prefer a slightly softer bed. Not complaining, just to inform the reader. But from my stay in Vietnam over that 4 weeks, I'd say 90% of hotel beds were also on the firm side (same as in Thailand). But you won't care once you experience the place. Hope this helps. Cheers
