Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

I arrived and was immediately invited.to.a homecooked.dinner for all guests! How incredibly nice! And it was delicious, too! The room was spacious, incredibly quiet and comfortable. I got a bad headcold the next day so could not even visit the Imperial Palace... But got offered a home made soup (which I wanted to insist paying for but was not allowed, which again is so much above and beyond). Also could arrange a late checkout for the same reason at late notice. Thank you sooo much, I will be back!

AustriaJust to mention that the day tour let me pay extra for the location of the hotel being ouside city center. I do not know if this is the case for many operators.
Nice room in a sidestreet. The room was silent and air condition worked perfectly. I came way before check in time so the housekeeper opened the main door and handed me the room.keys. I did not expect that at all.

United KingdomWhile the room met cleanliness standards, the bathroom showed signs of mold that could use addressing. A note of caution: the cable of a bedside lamp was seriously damaged, presenting a safety hazard that needs immediate attention.
This charming accommodation sits in a prime location at the heart of Hue, perfectly positioned for city exploration while nestled on a quiet street to avoid traffic noise. The host warmly fosters a sense of community, even treating long-term guests to a delightful home-cooked dinner. Nice breakfast with a few options.

IndiaWe booked the family room, which is a set of two rooms and the price was almost double - both a bit cramped. There were better rooms. So we didn't really get one of the best facilities at a higher price. But the price was moderate.
The hosts were very warm. Duc stayed up and made us dinner on the first day because we arrived late in the evening. They were very thoughtful. They made all the arrangements requested.

United KingdomThe super loud drilling and hammering from 8am right above our heads was a shock! Just an hour later would have been good....
Set back from the road in the citadel, so a little tricky to find first time, but meant it was nice and quiet. Gorgeous family hosting and all the guests ate together one evening which was really nice. Our room was a good size and the bed was comfy. We rented a motorbike from the owner to explore Hue which was fun too.

CanadaAll party members had issues with the wifi being very slow. Granted this is a minor inconvenience in contrast to all the good but it was a bit frustrating.
Breakfast and dinner were absolutely fantastic and host + all those helping were amazing. Super accommodating which is greatly appreciated.

AustraliaNothing really - location is a little out of the action zone … but we like walking and they have bikes so this wasn’t a negative for us but may be for some.
Really nice place to stay - simple and easy. A good home stay with really nice people. Location is good - close to lots of things. Great value for money. Able to help you out with things if needed.

United KingdomThe whole experience exceeded expectations. It would be unfair to compare Maison Vu Tri Vien to a 5* hotel, however we doubt we could get a better accommodation or service for the price and would have still been very happy if we had paid double!
This is a small family run B&B style hotel where the hostess, Quynh, genuinely wants her guests to feel at home and cared for. Communicating with the hotel is easy, and responses are quick and useful. Collection from the airport was arranged via the hotel and we also arranged a trip by car to Hoi An. The hotel is clean. Slippers are provided for guests to wear inside the house. The room was spacious with a TV (which we didn’t use) and a mini fridge. Basic necessities are provided, such as shampoo and shower gel. There was a view over a pond, which is apparently covered in lotus flowers in the right season. The food was amazing, especially dinner. Quynh is an incredible cook and she joined us at a communal table with us and a French couple to have a conversation. Her language skills are also impressive! We were in a fortunate position to select quality hotels during our tour of Vietnam. We thought we’d give the Maison Vu Tri Vien a go, based on the reviews and because we wanted to try an authentic style accommodation. We have absolutely no regrets, would stay there again and would recommend to anyone who can use stairs (there is no lift). Did we mention the food? 😃

AustraliaLoved this property and staying here. The family are so lovely. Helpful and there if needed but not at all pushy. The dinner they cooked was delicious. The breakfasts were great. The room we stayed in was large, and very comfortable. The area is local with many great eateries and coffee shops in walking distance. Also near the Citadel but not touristy. Would definitely stay here again.
