Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

BelarusThe host was super nice and very helpful, recommended us some great places to eat, on arrival he offered us some homemade cookies and water helping us with our bags to the room, he was very quick and responsive whenever we needed any help or questions. The location was literally perfect, you walk down the stairs and walk out onto the busy street where your in the heart of the tourist area with lots of great restaurants and cafes and a very convenient 7Eleven right across the street. The property is very close to all the main attractions and we found it really easy to walk to all of them. It would be nice to have a mini fridge in the room but that’s just my opinion. All in all we enjoyed our stay here and highly recommend this property!!!!!!

MaltaIn true Hanoi fashion, the house itself is hidden so the first time I had to get back on my own I got a bit confused but the aunties outside were helpful so I found it eventually; if, unlike me, you remember things quickly you won't have this problem because host will welcome you when you arrive.
Location of the property is unbeatable; right around the corner is Hoan Kiem Lake, and few steps over you can find ATM, shops, eateries, cafes and spas - it's at the very heart of the lively city and you can experience the most of Hanoi here. Host is very cheerful and helpful, and made me feel safe and comfortable as a solo female traveller in a very busy foreign city; the other people in the building are also nice and friendly. The room itself is cozy and spacious, surprisingly quiet given it's on a busy street. You can ask your concerns before your stay so host can guide you; he is the best! I am very thankful and happy with my stay.

SingaporeThe steps leading to the house is quite narrow and steep, and there are dogs barking as you climb up to the house. Sound insulation is not very good but the neighbours are generally quiet at night
The room is spacious and clean. Location is very convenient, just a 2 minutes walk to the lake and next to the weekend night market. Host is very helpful and nice.

Fantastic location right near Hoan Kiem Lake and the Old Quarter. Good shopping/restaurants around if you’re interested in that, and walkable to places like the Hoa Lo Prison. The host was super friendly and always on call to help, assisting with bags on stairs, letting us check out later than we expected, and providing water/some snacks when we returned after being out. The room itself was comfortable and spacious, just when you left to go to the bathroom you had to make sure you were covered up as it looks over to a neighbours terrace! Was rarely busy however.

CanadaAs mentioned the stairs were an issue for me, but they wouldn't be for every traveller. I hesitate to say anything negative because the quality of the hospitality and general level of accommodation for the price were so exceptional.
From my first night's arrival in Hanoi, I knew I was in safe hands due to the friendliness of the proprietor. He offered me a motorbike pick up if I took the 86 bus in from the airport, he carried my luggage upstairs, he brought me water. Nothing was too much trouble. When he saw that I was struggling with the stairs he even offered to find other accommodation for me at a similar price in the neighbourhood. His whole concern was to support me during my stay in Hanoi, whether that meant hosting me or not. The stairs are truly difficult for someone with mobility challenges like me, but I loved the accommodation. The room is huge and everything is immaculately clean, with the host even changing the bed for me during my three night stay. One has exclusive use of the whole third floor with little garden area, adjacent bathroom, nicely equipped with shampoo, soap, even toothbrush/toothpaste, decent water pressure and resident watch-cat. (I like cats and was happy to think of him watching over me at night). The room is amazingly quiet for being right in the center of the throbbing Old Quarter. It is comfortably air conditioned and has a fan too, and there is a hair dryer. The wifi is good and strong. The host has thought of everything! In common with many beds in Asia this one is hard and about a foot from the floor. The low profile furniture made it difficult for me (again, the mobility issues). If you were a fit young couple or solo traveller you would have no trouble at all. The excellence of the location cannot be emphasized enough. It is RIGHT at the heart of things, steps from Hoan Kiem lake and the Water Puppet theatre. There are tons of excellent eateries around here. I love the Pho place right around the corner (My van than dinh Liet) which boasts all of 5 dishes on its menu and every one of them delicious. And Met (13 Hang Be) was a superb choice for dinner. Money changers and travel agents abound, so you can plan all your onward itinerary.

GermanyThis is overall an amazing homestay! Location: Very central in the Old Quarter, but the room itself is not directly facing the street. You still may hear the noise, but that is the part of experience staying in this part of the city. People: The owner is absolutely amazing!!! He offers pickup at the airport or the bus station, and he stored my luggage for the days that I was outside of Hanoi for overnight trips. Absolutely amazing, enthusiastic service day and night! Room: There is everything you would need and more. Toiletries, hair dryer, kettle, a small iron, AC... And if there is something missing, you can always ask. Also, the adjacent balcony/terrace offers a cute oasis to rest from the hectic Hanoi life. Everything is also decorated with obvious love to detail. A small warning: you need to walk three long, steep flights of stairs to get to the room, which may be difficult to some people or if you have big luggage (but even then, you can ask the owner for help). If I happen to return to Hanoi, I will book here again!

BulgariaWe loved it but anyone booking should keep in mind the property is on the top floor and there are some (narrow) stairs to overcome. ...for us this added to the charm of the place ❤️ Also do not expect luxury - still you get five times more than what you pay for plus the unique Old Hanoi House atmosphere! ✨
This is certainly one of the best places to stay over when in Hanoi and CERTAINLY #1 VALUE FOR MONEY in the city!!! Amazing location! Very spacious room with with enough natural light and unique interior design rouches. ...you get your own small balcony even :)))) The host is a real treasure! They'd go out of their way to ensure your utmost comfort in every imaginable way! They not only welcomed us on the street and helped us unload our bags from the motorcycle but would not let us carry out bags ourselves... You very rarely see such hospitality these days! Without us asking they put a sturdy lock on our bike🔒 and have us the 🗝️ ❤️ We took advantage of the really competitively priced express laundry service offered at the property. We were supposed to stay for 1 night and ended up spending 4 nights @ this amazingly cozy little gem in the heart of Hanoi! Thank you for everything!

CanadaNothing. Just note that there are many narrow steps to go up, so it will be a small challenge if you have a suitcase.
I loved everything. It is calm, very well located, clean and has everything you need, even a terrace! The room is spacious, the bathroom even has heating lamps for whn you shower and you have the entire last floor to yourself. On top of that, the owner is incredibly kind and helpful and goes out if his way to make sure you have everything you need. I will be back in Hanoi later this year and I hope I will be able to book with them again.

The room is nice and cozy and the location is perfect. Everything was also very clean. Hanoi was very cold during the days we were there and the owner provided us with an electric heater and in the toilet there were heating lamps. A special mention to the owner who’s such a kind person! He helped us bringing our luggages upstairs and downstairs, he provided us with two SIM cards and he also gave us two ponchos for our trip to Sapa!

SingaporeThe mattress was too hard for me to sleep well in. It could just be my preference for less "hard" mattress. The host didn't provide specific instructions on getting up to the 3rd floor, so I had difficulty in finding the stairs up to the house. The stairs are hidden by metal doors which you need to pull it to see the stairs. Beware of dogs barking at you while walking up./down the stairs.
Great location for the homestay. The room was clean when I checked in. There is a nicely decorated balcony outside the room which I think it's good for chilling out before sleeping. The host provides towel, toothbrush and shampoo. WiFi connection is good.

United KingdomThere are several flights of stairs which was fine for me and makes for a nice atmosphere but IF you aren't good with stairs, not ideal.
The room was perfect to arrive to- private and comfortable and close to the lake and busy old town but peacefully away from it too. Host arranged airport pickup and bus station dropoff. I recommend completely.
