Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomOne of the best places I’ve stayed! The owners were exceptionally welcoming and caring of all guests. I loved the family dinners, delicious food, and it was easy to socialise with other guests. Great view from the property and close to a fantastic trekking route. Loved the peaceful atmosphere. Comfy bed and no complaints. Highly recommend.

GermanyThis was one of the best homestays I've ever stayed in!! The family that owns the place was so so lovely and the place was beautiful, with a stunning view to wake up to, little puppies (well taken care of with blanket, heater, everything) and even a hot shower. It's a bit far from town (about 20 minute walk to reach it and half an hour to get to the center), but if you're able to drive a scooter it doesn't really matter and they are gonna sort one out for you for a good price. Sapa itself was quite touristic and it was so nice getting away from it at the end of the day. Plus: Most of the (little) vietnamese I learned on my trip I learned here!

FranceThe place was very calm with a lovely view. I can’t think of anything more the hosts could’ve done better, they are amazing people who helped us with everything during our stay. Every night they offer a family dinner very cheap for the amount and the quality of the food. They have scooters to rent and only a few minutes drive to the center. We’re glad we stayed here at pea homestay and totally recommend it to anyone looking for a place to stay in sapa. Thank you so much, Ryan and Lola :)

United KingdomIt was a little bit of a walk out of Sapa but the views are amazing.
Duk and Leng were the best hosts! They really made us feel welcomed into their family. Their little boy is also adorable and their dogs had just had puppies, it was all very exciting! They helped us with any questions and also helped us learn some Vietnamese phrases to make our time in Vietnam even better. I could not recommend this enough!

ItalyThe location is absolutely amazing, it's so peaceful and the view is really beautiful. But the best part is the kindness of the family who runs the homestay. They are so caring about your needs, give you suggestions on what to do and where to go. I recommend you to take part of the family dinner and lunch, Linh made such delicious meals and it's a plus to spend time with them. I really enjoyed it, especially the karaoke night :)

United StatesEverything you could ask for in a homestay and more. Close to downtown sapa but far away enough for silence and peace. Great if you want to get away, but also a wonderful social atmosphere with family meals as well. 🥰🌻🙏

PortugalThe main thing i didn't like was that i didn't book another day or two in Sa Pa to spend more time there. The shower drain is on a low ceiling corner of the bathroom, and you'll probably end up taking a seated shower with very little water if you don't want to flood the bathroom. I actually found it funny having this more "traditional" experience (which is why i didn't even comment on it during my stay), but it probably won't be for everyone. Anyway, if you have problems with it, I'm sure they'll find an alternative solution...
The kindness of the family and the willingness to include their guests in their daily life. Had I known what to expect, I certainly would have planned to stay more than just one day, for sure! The whole experience truly felt like I was staying with friends - we had some fun after dinner, Linh was always very concerned that I had everything I needed (where to eat, that i knew where to take the bus back to Lào Cái, etc). Little Đứa is also very friendly, despite his very young age, and the two dogs always came to greet me once they'd spot me outside. Linh told me that the main reason they started the homestay was so that little Đứa could learn more English, so do your best to save some time to spend with this family. The mattress on the floor was much more comfortable than I had expected - I slept for 10h straight! The accommodation is a bit far from the center, but that shouldn't be a problem for those that come to Sa Pa for hiking (around 30 min walking to the center, with several photo opportunities along the way). On the other hand, that's the reason they have an unobstructed view over the valley nearby. And what a view: it's the very first thing you see when you open the window, right next to the mattress on the floor - no need to even get up 😁 They've done a great work with the place - construction is recent and rustic. Outside you can find several little areas for picnicking, barbecuing, meditating, playing with the dogs or the kids, all with the great view of the mountains in the distance.
