Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

NorwayWe booked a room with a private bathroom, but had to share it with another room.. The room is not sound proof, so we were woken up early by sound in the street every morning and we had struggle controlling our AC :/ It’s a little troubly to get in to the building late at night or early in the morning as you have to wake up on of the staff for them to open up the door..
Big room with lovely breakfast! Super nice staf. Really okay location close to the train street.

United KingdomA lot of stairs up to our floor which was tiring in the heat!
Loved the authenticity. The staff were so friendly and extremely helpful. Offering us breakfast at 1pm when we’d overslept due to jet lag. In a prime location for exploring the Old Quarter of Hanoi.

IndiaBathrooms were a bit old fashioned and not particularly good, which is probably due to the fact that it's an homestay and the home has old style of construction. In the bathroom in one of our rooms (101), every time we flushed, the water came with a flurry of small black dead insects, which was a bit creepy. Drinking Water is sometimes a small inconvenience as we need to fill the water ourselves, so we need to have our own bottles and be careful about having enough water to get us through the night.
Very nice and quaint homestay. Breakfast has options for vegetarians (bread and pancakes) (pancakes have eggs though, be careful) and they are very good. Also, there are multiple fruit options. There is also a veggi noodle options. Very satisfying breakfast. The rooms very pretty big. There is an open kitchen, so you can get yourself sugar, tea sachets , water etc. The staff were really nice and very helpful. The location is amazing, very close to all the markets and right next to the train market. I would say the good is definitely likely to outweigh the bad unless one runs into unfortunate circumstances. We had a net positive stay !

AustraliaOne of our rooms had a couple of maintenance issues and there were stairs which caused one of our group some problems. Perfume changed our rooms around when we arrived and she realised the problem.
Perfume is a fantastic hostess. She was super helpful and so lovely. She helped us with information for things to do and train tickets. The location is fantastic! Just around the corner from Train Street and the Old Quarter. Lots of places to eat and easy walk to Hop on Hop off bus.

United KingdomBooking Stated private external bathroom but was in fact shared with 1 other room. Rooms were more tired looking in real life than in the photos. Though they are currently fixing this through redecorating rooms. Could hear noise of people on the stairs, outside, and in the kitchen/dining area from inside the room. Was away from the street noise which was good as it can be much noisier in other parts of Hanoi, the rooms are actually off of the road in a courtyard/alleyway.
Every single member of the family who run this hotel are amazing, they did everything they could to accommodate us it was one of the most warm, friendly and genuine stays I've ever had in any accommodation whilst travelling. By the end of the stay you felt like you were part of their family. Breakfast included, good selection plenty of fresh fruit as well as options for eggs, pho and bananna pancakes. Really good value for money, definitely recommend to anyone who visits Hanoi, would stay with them again.

IndonesiaMy room was on the third floor. For someone who has OA, it was quite painful to get there.. But that was ok, because we booked the room at late at night, so maybe that was the only room available at that time.
The staff and the owner were incredibly amazing, they were nice and very helpful! They also have a travel agent with lots of information. I really enjoy my stay there.

IndiaOnly one thing. I landed at 12:30 am, I called them repeatedly. Thereafter I came straight to the homestay, I called them, I banged there lock but nobody to open the door. Then we to another hotel at that time , to stay for few hours.
The homestay is fabulous. They are really nice people. They do respect elderly person. I will recommend all my family and friends to come and stay here, whenever they will come to Vietnam.

Perfume’s cozy house is in a great location within walking distance of the old quarter area of Hanoi. The rooms were large and spacious, and the bathroom had an enclosed shower. Perfume and her family were so nice and helpful. She booked a hotel taxi for us and changed some of our money. We really enjoyed the delicious homemade breakfast.
