Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Czech RepublicIf you want to enjoy any kind of night life, something in / closer to Phong Nha would probably suit you better - we, however, had no such expectations and appreciated the calm nature of this location. (And Phong Nha is reachable on scooter in about five minutes, so no big deal.)
The hosting family were very welcoming and helpful, from ordering a taxi for us from the airport, cooking us late-ish dinner the evening we arrived (which involved delicious tofu with tomato sauce which made my husband, avid tofu-hater, admit it can taste good), pleasant breakfast, renting us scooters as well as recommending places to see around. The homestay is located in a small village, so there are other buildings nearby, but the "backyard" part offers lovely view of surrounding rice fields, you can sit in a nice gazebo there (where they'll even serve you dinner, if you choose so), and you can enjoy the calm nature vibes... If you dislike frog and cicada sounds though, you might be disappointed, as there's plenty of both in the fields. :-) The acommodation and the location gave us much more authentic vibes than many of Phong Nha acommodation options which seemed rather "touristy" - we loved that it was truly a homestay (as we saw some acommodations during our Vietnam trip calling themselves homestay but being a basically a normal hotel-style airbnb) and it added to our Vietnam experience significantly. We 100% recommend. :-)

JapanNothing really
Peaceful environment. Kind and accommodating hosts. Most adult staff don’t speak English, but if you can use translation app communication is smooth and professional (Daughter speaks good English). If in doubt where to have lunch must try the roasted chicken they serve. Scooters available on site. They also help arrange tours (even ones which don’t exist on pamphlets). They even extended our stay by few hours for very economical price.

NetherlandsAlles was prima!
This homestay has a beautiful location among the rice fields, just a few km from the Phong Nha national park. You can enjoy the peace and quiet here and with a scooter that you can rent from the owner you can quickly reach the village of Phong Nha where there is plenty to do. The family is very helpful and hospitable and you can communicate well with the daughter who speaks good English. We really enjoyed the peace and quiet, the delicious food (breakfast and dinner were delicious!) and the option to rent a scooter and drive around so you can experience the real life of Vietnam. There are also bicycles for rent and tours and taxis can be arranged. You can enter the national park with a guide. You can book various tours to caves (world famous) and you can do a jungle trek. In short, a great homestay with a very sweet, hospitable family, large clean rooms with a wonderful bed and plenty to do in the area.

United KingdomNothing. We were happy with everything.
First and foremost was the lovely family. They were so kind and helpful - nothing was too much trouble. The views from our room were incredible. Our room was clean and spacious. We loved the little town and the trip to Paradise Cave and Phong Nha Cave - booked through the Homestay was really worth doing. We absolutely recommend Phong Nha Rice Fields Homestay .

United StatesThe property was fantastic with great views of the rice fields in the backyard. We had a comfortable stay, and the family made us feel like part of their family. The host asked to cook dinner for us and join their family for dinner. You’ll have to pay a little extra for dinner, but it was nice having authentic Vietnamese food. Although there’s a bit of language barrier, the hosts use google translate to communicate and could get by. Overall, we had a great time, and enjoyed the stay with other travelers too.

United KingdomThere would appear to be no restaurants within walking distance, so you'll need to rent a motorbike to eat lunch or generally get around
This lovely family truly adopted us and made sure we had a great time. They were happy to help us organise tours and rent motorbikes. They made a delicious dinner for us every night (at only 100,000 dong each). The room itself was very large with great luxury with a comfy bed and plenty of hot water in the shower.

United StatesThis is my favorite place I stayed in Vietnam. The homestay is in a beautiful, peaceful location, a 5 minute motorbike or 10 minute bike ride from Phong Nha town. The family who runs the homestay are the kindest, loveliest people. I feel like I have a family in Vietnam. I had a wonderful time just hanging out with them. They will also help you organize any trekking or cave tours. They also cooked some of the best food I have had in Vietnam. This is also a great way to do sustainable and ethical travel. Your money goes directly to supporting a local family rather than to a hotel or hostel company. Definitely stay here!

United StatesWe loved this homestay! It's about a 10 minute bike or scooter ride from the main part of town (not really walking distance unless you are very motivated) situated in a little neighborhood amongst rice fields. There's plenty of outdoor common areas where you can watch the local farmers work the fields which we found fascinating and made us appreciate the work the goes into the food we take for granted. The room was great, clean, and the bed was soft and comfortable. The homestay is run by local family whose teenage daughter speaks perfect English. Breakfast was great and we still are craving the pancakes with honey! Bikes and scooters are rentable, be sure to check your brakes etc before setting out on your adventure. Our highest recommendation! This type of place is a model for how tourism can be sustainable and mutually benefit locals living the the area as well as visitors.
