Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United KingdomNothing really.
The homestay is situated in a beautiful location and the room was amazing, very clean and well decorated. I loved the balcony with views to the rice field. The staff, specially Rose was very helpful and caring she even packed our breakfast when we had to leave very early in the morning. The only thing I would say is that I felt more like in a hostel or B&B rather than a homestay so if you are looking for an inmersive experience it might not be the place for you although Rose can arrange a day trip with a Hmong woman so you can have a taste of it.

United KingdomThe walls are thin so you will sleep with earplugs (which are provided in the room). Other than that everything was perfect :)
It's a beautiful place in the village of TaVan which is a way more relaxing and interesting place than SaPa. We went for a couple of nice hikes on our own and rented a motorbike from Rose and Rex. The place was very comfortable and charming. Also, the restaurant served the best food we had in all of SaPa!!

GermanyKeep in mind that Ta Van is 20-30 minutes outside of Sa Pa and a Taxi Ride costs about 250k. In my opinion totally worth it to escape the busy City center and have a relaxed stay :)
The remote homestay is run by Rose and Rex who are super welcoming and will help you with everything you could possibly need :) The stay was perfect: beginning with the cozy bungalows, the great breakfast, and even better dinner (with a lot of vegetarian options). We ended up having dinner at the homestay every single night. You can start trekking right in front of the door or rent a motorbike to explore Sapa and other villages.

One of my favorite stays in all of our travels! Rose, Rex (and Zach) were fantastic hosts and made us feel at home as soon as we arrived. We loved hanging out by the main restaurant area and taking in laid-back lifestyle of the village. They also have two adorable dogs and all of the food they made was delicious.

Perfect homestay owned by warm and lovely people! The food was amazing!! We ate there during our entire stay, each meal we tried something else, portions are huge and prices are fair! We've been upgraded to the bungalow, the shower was great, the bed as well and we just loved the vibe We went hiking by ourselves but Rose can help you find a local guide. The village is a great starting point for hikes, we saw many tourists from Sapa that passed our homestay with guides so don't make the mistake of sleeping in Sapa and enjoy the coziness of this place :)

BelgiumKeep in mind that this is not close to Sa Pa, it's a 30 min drive by motor bike so it's a bit of an adventure to get there, although this isn't a negative thing necessarily. The room we stayed in was lovely but it's basically not isolated so you can hear your neighbors talk on both sides and the roosters in the morning, so bring ear plugs. Don't shower too long because the hot water is quite limited, but once you know it's no problem. It gets quite cold there in February, keep this in mind.
Amazing location, countryside vibes. We stayed in a newly built building 5 minutes from the main building which has an amazing view on the surrounding mountains. The room itself had the most character I've ever seen during my travels, very unique. Mattress was an electric one so you won't be cold at night. Lovely and helpful family running the homestay, amazing food, great atmosphere, cute dogs.

CyprusNothing to do with the accommodation. Wish it wasn't so foggy
The electric blanket is nice for the cold nights. The family who runs it is very friendly and nice, they let us go in the room even though we arrived very early (7am). Food is also good, the location is a bit far from Sapa town but it has a more original feeling to it.

GermanyNothing to complain about.
It was simply amazing to stay there. The room was super cozy and the bed was equipped with an electrical blanket. The food they cooked at their restaurant was really delicious. Moreover, the village is a great starting point for hikes. Rose also recommended us hikes that we can do on our own. We were first a little unsure about staying so far out of Sapa but there was nothing we missed. The village has everything you need. Overall, there wasn’t anything we didn’t like. Would definitely stay there again.

BelgiumThe driver they used to bring us back to Sapa drove dangerous. There was a lot of fog in the mountains and he was constantly using his smartphone. I didn't feel safe.
Everything was good. It was clean. We had a hot shower. And the breakfast was very good. The hot electrique blanket was very welkom because there isn'n anything to warm up the room. And it was very cold.

VietnamI was happy at Plum Eco house! I spent my Tet break there and had 5 peaceful days to relax, warm up by the fire, chat with friendly people, take walks, eat delicious food, play with little ML and all the animals, visit the next door art gallery... Traveling alone, I was slightly worried about the place being away from town, but Rose and Rex made me feel so instantaneously welcome that that was soon forgotten. They were generous, and friendly, and helpful even after I had left. Also the area is worth it. I can't wait to go back!

DenmarkWe enjoyed our stay at Rosie and Rex' place. They are a wonderful couple who took very good care of us, gave us good suggestions on things to do, arranged transportation and activities for us and generally made sure that we felt at home. The food they cooked for us was amazing from breakfast to dinner, coffee, snacks everything. They also have some really sweet dogs at their homestay which rendered our kids really happy and kept them busy. The house we stayed in was clean, spacious, bright and perfect for the four of us. IndiaDidn't like leaving the place!
Everything was great. The bungalow was cozy and well designed. The outdoors were homely. The food was great. The dogs were cute and friendly. But more importantly, Rose and Rex made us feel like we belong there! We connected instantly and even had a family style hotpot meal together. They gave us useful tips and went beyond what was expected. We soon became friends and I am sure we will meet again soon!
