Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesNot about the property but make sure you rent your motorbike IN SAPA before going to the property! The bikes in the village are pretty low quality (and pricey) - in town you can get a great deal on quite a new bike.
Really kind hosts - we arrived very early from the train and they let us purchase a coffee and check in quite early. The rooms are simple & have everything you need. Location is very stunning. Family meals were terrific value and a great way to meet everyone staying at the property.

United KingdomBeautiful location right next to the river and a perfect place to start the Sapa Bamboo Trail for a lovely trek! The beds are comfortable with great views from the windows and the bathrooms are really clean with great showers! Breakfast is included and is a perfect start to the day. They serve good food all day and are super helpful for booking taxis into town, renting motorbikes, or as guides for hiking. Nice sociable vibe with breakfast and if you choose the family dinner too. Perfect!

SlovakiaThe homestay is further from the city than it seems to be and you have to take taxi to get to Sapa, so if you want to spend time in a city it is better to book accommodation there.
Very cosy homestay. The owner with his family were very friendly and helped us. They have several options of treks, meals and drinks. The owner speaks English. The pancakes for the breakfast were perfect and common time with other guests, mostly tourists were amazing. I recomend this homestay if you want to hike.

LatviaFor light sleepers- you may be waking up quite early because of the neighbouring chickens or hearing people through the walls. For remote workers- no option for a desk setup.
Great location, wonderful views, clean facilities. The family was very kind and welcoming, and they really put care into their services, sharing their home grown rice products for dinner and helping out with the transportation to the village. The internet connection was awesome, and I could easily make work calls.

United KingdomThe host is excellent, very friendly and attentive. Our room was fitted with an electric blanket which was appreciated due to us arriving at a colder time of the year. It would be a crime to miss family dinner, so many different options for food and all amazing. Wouldn't stay anywhere else in sapa given the chance again.

United KingdomThere is nothing no to like. Phan will fix all of your problems.
Phan (the owner and host) is one of the kindest people that we have met on our travels. He takes the time to speak to everyone and makes sure that you have a comfortable stay. He and his family are delightful and made our time here very special. Phan leads the hike around the area and explains perfectly about life in the village, the different groups that live in the area and how rice farming is the backbone of the local economy. They put on a ‘family dinner’ each night which brings everyone together (including the host family) over food and good conversation. We had one vegan and one gluten-free person in our group and Phan went out of his way to make sure that they ate well for every meal. He checked all ingredients to make sure that they were suitable and was incredibly kind. Thank you Phan, your wife, your mother and the rest of your lovely family for the best stay of our time in Vietnam.

Ta Van is the perfect village to stay in if you want to get out of crowded and touristy Sa Pa and this homestay is everything you would expect from an authentic homestay. Lovely cooking class and dinner with the family, treks with the host, a scooter for 150vnd, clean, mountains all around and the sound of the flowing river. Very enjoyable.
