Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaThe bed was slightly too firm for my liking but everything else made up for it.
Absolutely blown away by Sapa Clay House. The staff take so much pride in presentation and service, going above and beyond to help us during our stay. Loved all the meals we had including the complimentary breakfast. Freshly prepared using ingredients grown in their garden. Daily complimentary sunset cocktails. Wish we could have stayed longer. I would recommend Sapa clay house to everyone visiting Sapa.

Staying at Sapa Clay House was a genuinely amazing experience. The staff are incredibly kind and attentive and went above and beyond for us. They booked unique treks for us and made sure it was top notch. The spa services were great and very comforting after a long day trekking. The food was also excellent, with a lot of produce grown in the gardens. Views from the room were incredible with panoramic windows to enjoy it. There was a keen attention to detail and also respect to nature in the way they operated (towels etc). Could genuinely not fault this place or the wonderful staff.

SingaporePrice is more expensive than alternative places at Sapa, but the quality of room, food and service gave the price its worth. For those who do not mind paying a bit more, you should not miss this.
The view is totally out of the world. Clear view of the terraces right from the bed. Host is very friendly and helpful with organising guided tours. There are 4 resident dogs and 1 kitty and they are all friendly and fun to play with. Delicious organic food from the restaurant. We tried the herbal bath, which was something we didn't know we needed until we had it - strongly recommend to try!

Singaporei think the toilet has a heater(not water heater), but it seems spoilt so it can be a little cold at night when you are using the bathtub
Very helpful and friendly hosts. The foods are super good, tho prices might seems a little higher compared to Sa pa city but it is totally worth every single cent! Every dish we tried are tasty! Bed is comfortable, room and toliet are clean! Staff can help you to check if fansipan weather condition before you make a trip down to prevent a wasted trip due to unforeseen weather. They can also help you to book taxi so it is very convenient. Lovely place ! Highly recommend.

United KingdomWe got concerned about leaving any marks or stains on the white towels as if they can’t clean them then you will have to pay for a new towel. Because they are an ecolodge they can’t use harsh chemicals which is good but difficult when using white towels.
Sapa Clayhouse was absolutely beautiful. The detail in the interior and exterior was stunning. The staff were so friendly and attentive and really made us feel really special.

Netherlandswe got a bungalow at the far end - with an electricity pole in front of our view and a super noisy school as neighbors… they were playing really loud music for the majority of the day, which unfortunately meant we couldn’t really enjoy our room. the pool is beautiful but of course not heated and with the SaPa temperature it was simply too cold to enjoy being in the pool.
beautiful scenery. close to SaPa town with taxi. excellent staff. fantastic food and great signature cocktails. support to arrange exciting and affordable trekking tour with local guide (highly recommend!). clean room. we had a late bus in the evening and even tho we couldn’t enjoy late check out we could use the pool shower to freshen up before our departure which helped a lot.

South KoreaBest vacation ever!! Sapa Clay House really is even better in person than in pictures. Everything was BEAUTIFUL - the garden, pool, bedroom and bathroom with huge windows providing an amazing view of the gorgeous Sapa countryside. It was so dark and quiet at night, and I slept very well in the comfortable bed. I was travelling alone, and the staff were extremely attentive and helped me with everything, from preparing vegetarian food for me, to arranging a personal trek/tour with a local guide. The food was really fresh, made with vegetables and herbs straight from their garden, and you can eat all your meals there so you don't need to worry about going out for food. It is also easy to get to Sapa Clay House from Sapa town by taxi, motorbike or even walking. If you come to visit Sapa, this is a perfect place to stay.

AustraliaHonestly we loved everything. We booked for two nights and ended up staying 4. It’s in the perfect location for Sapa. personally you don’t want to stay in town cause it’s a bit noisy and there’s just way too much going on. the clay house is in the most perfect location and has the best of the views. The staff are extremely kind and made our stay just amazing.

AustraliaSapa Clay House is great place to go. After visiting Sa Pa town for one evening, we were sooo glad we didn't stay in town. In comparison the town is expensive and very (Vietnamese) touristy, which wasn't our taste. However, fun to visit one evening.
Brilliant location outside the crazy town of Sa Pa itself. Stunning views and walks through rice fields on your doorstep. Family staff wants to make you at home and they succeeded in that! Their environmental approach is genuine and shows in all aspects they do. Cooking class with its market visit was fun and yummy. One tip: Use private transport like a minibus (for example EcoSapa) from/to Hanoi. They brought and picked us up from Clay House doorstep which saves you a LOT of hassle. By far the most value-added option in regard to time/money/convenience.

VenezuelaThe massage was not up to par with the rest of the services. The masseuse didn't seem to care much about the quality.
The service was SPECTACULAR. All of the staff were extremely helpful and at the same time not too invasive. You can order as many dishes as you'd like at breakfast (the french toast and banh mi were my favorite). The views are great and the rooms are clean and updated. Hai is a fantastic host- thank you Hai for a wonderful experience and for allowing us to play with your cute dogs!

DenmarkWe found the visit however a bit absurd. The hotel seem to have become too institutionalised over time. Upon arrival almost a business contracting is initiated - you are presented with a long list of does and don’ts in regard to towels, shoes, pool activities and you have to in long due advance make a decision on when and what to eat. This made it an unrelaxing experience. We were adviced only to use guides recommended by the hotel, and we were told that we might get into trouble with police otherwise. We were furthermore not allowed to leave the house without all rooms being checked (no complaints or extra fines however. A strange experience
A hotel with a beautiful view and pool. Food is great with many ingredients (incl chicken) being sourced locally.

South Korea- Pho it was just not tasty, not like Vietnamese food itself. I doesn't have chilli, coriander, vegetable or flavor of broth even that we can find in normal local restaurants anywhere. it tasted nothing and I asked the staff why there's nothing he said because they assumed I wouldn't like Vietnamese seasoning or coriander even they didn't ask me anything when they got order. It's double price than the Sa Pa city food which is no worth it to visit again. - Bath tub That was the reason I booked that room but I found there were lots of black mold and stinky moss around inside of the tub. I wiped it all before I took shower but still I could see and feel it. That was really disappointing and felt so bad.
good view & good scent in the room
