The staff were incredibly friendly, and were willing to answer any and all questions. The range and quality of food was amazing, and everything was so well priced! Would highly recommend staying here, as it will further add to the incredible experience you will have at Cat Ba.

The hostel had a great atmosphere to it and there was always an evening buzz. The rooms are incredibly well priced and you’re a five minute walk from the main attractions in Cat Ba. I would advise renting bikes from the hostel to visit the national park.

The ambience was great and the rooms were big and clean. The food was so good we.had multiple meals there too! Staff were friendly and helpful and the small pool was a nice bonus. Cocktails were good value too.

Immediately felt at home there, the outside area is super cozy, the beds are comfortable and everything is clean. The staff are all very friendly and the food tastes good as well!!!

Showers were not super clean and the locks didn’t work on several.

The staff are very helpful and friendly, they’ll give you tips for things to do around the area, help you sign up for tours, etc. The restaurant on site is good, a bit overpriced but convenient (mostly Western food). It was nice to have breakfast and coffee there or a beer in the evening! The common lounge area is very comfortable and social, there are games to play and live music in the evenings! Location was super convenient and you can rent a motorbike from the hostel to get around the island on your own.

The atmosphere in the hostel was really nice, and the staff was very friendly and helpful! Both the private rooms and the dorms were spacious and clean, with very comfortable beds. The food in the restaurant was also very tasty and the boattour they organised was put together very well. We've had a lovely time here!

I highly recommend this place. All the staff were very nice and attentive. The owner is very nice. Everything was perfect. The food is good. One of my favorite place in Vietnam.

We had a private room with ensuite but you had to walk outside to use this. It was a nice set up and had been designed well, but the people in the street can see you as there is no privacy screen once you are outside the toilet or shower. There is space to get dressed in the shower room but it was wet and humid so we usually did the dash back to the room with just a towel. There is also a live singer every night. His music was really good but very loud so there is no escaping it if you go to bed early. For the price you pay these negatives don't detract much

Lovely atmosphere in the communal area - beautiful set up with lots of plants. Our room was nicely decorated and quite large. Very clean and air-conditioner worked well. Not too far from the main shops but far enough to avoid the noise. The restaurant had a nice selection for meals - we only tried breakfast but the food was good and reasonably priced

Not about the property, but the way we were offered a full day, 8am-4pm, halong bay boat trip at reception for 650,000 the night we arrived (for the next day) and how cancellation was handled. The guy at reception told us it was the last day to do the boat trip before a big storm arrives so we paid and then met people 2hours later at a restaurant who told us that they won’t be buses after 1pm to leave the island because of the storm and that most of island services will be closed from the afternoon onward so the boat trip could actually not be the full day….and the guy at reception probably knew it before it sold it to us. When we went back to the hostel that night there was no one at the reception (most of the staff was on holidays) so we sent a message to explain that we wanted to cancel as this will not be a full day boat trip only 3hours and not worth it. The next morning we went to reception again at 7am to ask again to cancel and get reimburse, the guy told us first that we had to pay 30% anyway, then told us that we had to pay 150,000 each for the food that had been bought for us and so he did not reimbursed us the full amount. I don’t think that this is correct.

I would have preferred and extra pillow or a thicker pillow; the beds are of average comfort. And some shoes to use for the shower/ bathroom area.

I love the decor of this place: there are murals, lots of plants and it's outside but very shaded. It also had plenty of fans to help keep you cool. The staff are very attentive and friendly, and it's easy to book tours and transport from reception.

Secret Garden is a very beautiful place to stay with a lot of plants, a swimming pool and live music in the evenings. The staff is very helpful and the beds are comfortable. Thank you very much for this perfect stay!
