Hien, the hostel manager, makes the stay here an unforgettable experience. She will go out of her way to make you comfortable, and I loved how social the hostel was with the group breakfasts and lunches. 10/10 and would highly recommend a stay here.

Hien was a wonderful host!! So warm and friendly and she was so helpful with any questions I had. Make sure you do the food tour that Hien runs, one of the highlights of my whole Vietnam trip! Also, the free breakfast was phenomenal. The best free breaky I had in all of South East Asia.

Best accommodation we have stayed in while backpacking. Hien is great!. She provides great recommendations for whatever you are looking for (tailors, breakfast, dinner, tours, places to visit. Our overnight bus from Dalat arrived at 5am and Hien was there at 6 to let us in, have a shower and wait for our room to be ready, The room and bathroom are very clean and cleaned every day. The breakfast is lovely (pancake or omelette with a different pastry and fruit each morning). There is a honest system fridge with water, chocolate and beers available. Located a 15-20 minute walk into old town. There is also bike hire available.

In all my years of travelling I've never felt more taken care of in a hostel. It feels homely and as soon as you arrive, you will understand what I mean! It's so clean, the breakfast is delicious and included, the price and location are great and it seems to gravitate some of the kindest people. Hien is not only amazing host, she makes every guest feel cared for, included and goes out of her way to make sure your Hoi An experience is the best possible. We shared so many laughs and I extended my stay over and over again. You absolutely have to do the cooking class it's such a highlight. I loved being able to cycle into town and to yoga classes across the rice paddy's. I'm so grateful I got to leave some of my art behind to give this incredible place an extra cheerful touch, I hope you enjoy the "cheerful" mural as much as I enjoyed painting it :) thank you for everything! Hien is a born hostess and runs an absolutely fantastic hostel in a good location. She welcomes her guests with incredible warmth and creates a pleasant and familiar atmosphere. She takes requests and concerns very seriously and tries to find good solutions, for example for onward travel. She has good tips for excursions and eating out in Hoi An and organized a free food tour. Almost all the guests took part and we all had a lot of fun. As a parting gift, Hien even gave me a homemade sandwich for the road. I have rarely felt so comfortable in a hostel as I did with Hien.

Love this place, could not recommend it more. The host Hien is amazing! She makes you feel like you're home, she's the best, from suggesting activities tailored to your wants, needs and planning. Also, she knows everyone in the city, which is a plus for the best deals! Hostel is also very clean, great people, amazing breakfast!!

One of the best hostels I have ever stayed in! Hien goes above and beyond to make you feel at home and was an absolute delight to chat with. If you're looking for a cosy hostel that is welcoming and sociable then this is the one. Her street food tour was also a highlight, definitely don't skip it! I can't rate this hostel enough.

The beds were a bit too firm for me, but that is just a personal preference. The water pressure is also quite weak in the shower but nothing that isn't manageable. Was about a 20min walk from the Old Town.

Hien was such an amazing host, gave amazing breakfasts and great recommendations on where to eat, get clothes tailored and what to do. She even hosted a family lunch with all the guests because the weather wasn't too good to do a street food tour. She would always ask how your day was and genuinely cares about making your experience in Hoi An the best it can be.

Hien is so helpful with any queries and is unbelievably hard working. She made us banh my to take away for our flight. We got two private rooms as we were two couples. It was very clean and the rooms were huge had AC and they even changed bedding every day which I have not experienced in other hostels before.

I had a wonderful time in Hoi An and the Cheerful Hostel! Hien was the best host ever, so lovely, caring and helping🥰 she took us to a really good streetfood Tour and helped with tours, activities and buses. I spent Christmas there and it was the perfect place for that. Hien even organized a christmas Lunch for everybody 😍 It is a shorts 15-20min walk to the old town, but that was totally fine. One could also take the bicycles. Breakfast was sooo delicious too! 100% recomment that place!

We were backpacking for a long time and always stayed in hostels with dorms. This was absolutely the cleanest hostel we've ever stayed in. We immediately felt at home. There are free bikes and you can be in the beautiful city in about 5 minutes. The hostel owner is totally helpful and caring. Highly recommended.

The hostel was a about a 20 minute walk from the old town - not a biggie!

Cheerful Hostel was a great, relaxed home stay style hostel. Our private room was very comfortable and the breakfast each morning was delicious (we even got a full pork Bahn Mi one morning - yum!) We absolutely loved how much time the owner of the hostel took to give us recommendations for things to do in Hoi An - the tailor, Vietnamese cooking class and the Bahn Mi place that she recommended were all amazing! Definitely a more low key vibe and not a party hostel which we enjoyed.

All was a good experience for us.

Location was good, and easily accessible. Not in the city so had a relaxing time. Best part was the local food tour given by the host. Host is very cooperative, kind and jolly person. Reasonable prices, rooms were clean and neat. Free breakfast. Also the fresh coconut coffee she gives you on your welcome.

I would really recommend this hostel. Dieu Hien our Hostel mom welcomed me with open arms. The rooms are big and very clean. The showers are also really nice. Our hostel mom made sure that we had a great experience giving us good tips of what to do and we did a food tour all together. She makes an amazing fresh breakfast personally served with love. The location is also good, close to the center. The hostel has bicycles that you can use.

The vegetarian pho we had at the family lunch here was actually the best we had so far and Hien even made us some veggie Banh My's to take on our night bus when we left

I had the best time at Cheerful Hoi An Hostel. The owner is the nicest lady. She helped us with the best experiences and had a lot of recommendations for our trip in Hoi An. Our room was extremely spacious and great. I met so many great people over there, had so many meaningful conversations with and the owner and other travelers. If I ever get the chance to go back, I will for 100% stay at this place again. She even prepared goodbye breakfasts for us, I can’t eat gluten and she prepared a pancake based on rice flower for me, which was the absolute best.
