Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.

ItalyThe room was better in the pictures than in the reality. The stairs outside were a little bit wet, but this was because of the rain. I found a lot of cigarette butts on a pot with a plant in the balcony. I didn't like it. Finally the host was not able to help us with booking a grab or a taxi to the airport (we had to leave very early in the morning so we needed to book in advance)
The price, it was one of the cheapest in Hanoi. The bed was very comfortable. The host answered promptly to my booking request

United KingdomVery noisy neighbours downstairs, they would come in late and keep going into each others rooms, banging the doors and talking loudly outside until the early hours of the morning (2am). The water pump above our room was very loud too, this also kept us awake. The owner did explain this was broke though and would be fixed when we left. It was a shame about the noise, it made us leave a day early. But we do feel for the owner as part of the noise was from other guests and not the owners fault. If the noise issue was resolved then this place will be perfect place to stay as it is decorated and kept to a very high standard :)
Excellent accomodation, very modern and very very clean. This place had the potential to be the best place we have stayed in Vietnam. However there was a bit of a noise issue which was a shame. The location was perfect, straight across from Ho Chi Minh museum, and closer to the west lake area to explore there.

SlovakiaMoreover, there were bugs walking around the bed and then we found them in bed next to us. It was horrible and I did not feel comfortable anymore. Also there was noise all night long from the roof, and it was annoying a bit.
Location ok, near HCMN museum, 20min walking to the Old Quarter, the owner was friendly and changed the room for another when we noticed the water dropping from ceiling, also TV did not work. The owner let us leave our baggage before check-in at the accommodation, so we did not have to carry it with us and went to see around the city. Also, we left there our baggage after we checked out, so it was perfect. The owner doesn't speak English but he used translator, so we understood each other.

IndiaTry to avoid booking this stay if possible. The owner took the money from us the day he arrived, and 2 days after the checkout he raised a request saying we didn't show up. Although a return has filed now with booking.com . The apartment is not that clean and the washroom too.

India1- cleanliness was a major issue, even the kettle was very dirty so we couldn’t use it. 2- balcony was dirty too. cigarette butts were lying around. 3- there were no toiletries. 4- there was no facility for drinking water. No bottles were provided even at our welcome.
