Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

United StatesWe had a small mixup with our bus ticket at the front desk, so make sure you get the QR right when you have them book the ticket. Be advised that if you’re going to Ninh Binh, you’ll get dropped off by the Hanoi bound sleeper bus (you are on) at the Gold Hotel. There are taxis and motorbikes there (they appear out of nowhere) to take you to your homestay or hotel.
Complimentary breakfast was good. No view from our room but that was expected. Room was clean. Front desk staff booked our bus for Ninh Binh with pickup at the hotel. Overall good for a one night stay if you’re using it to move on. Price was good for that reason.

PolandDespite the fact that I informed the hotel that I would arrive in the middle of the night (they additionally confirmed this by calling me), the check-in took a good few minutes (it was 2:30 AM). Really too long! Breakfast (available until 9:00) before the end of serving was very poor. It was good that could order an omelette from the cook (it saved the situation). Honestly - I do not fully understand where the "delight" over the kindness of the staff comes from. Unfortunately, my stay does not confirm this. I would say the service is so-so.
Probably just the location.

GermanyThey kept our passports with them after check in, not the best process for a foreigner especially when travelling abroad. For us was okay as we just slept and restarted our trip, but would suggest to find another way to keep the customer information. Would be great if they can add a 3h stay room option :)
We just stopped for a 3h break on our motorbike trip. Big hotel, clean room.

AustraliaReception staff could at least pretend that they like their job when paying customers are around, but it seems to be a common trend in Vietnam that people are not interested in their customers in hotels, tickets offices and stores. Our room windows were exactly next to a neighbouring half finished building (2meters away) and we were so lucky that one of the few habited apparments had someone living there who liked to play kids music at 7am every morning. 😀
Very nice breakfast! We loved the fresh egg cooking station. Restaurant staff is very friendly and nice. Can't say the same about reception staff. Room was clean and the beds were very comfortable! Very close to the train station!

United KingdomWe weren’t welcomed in. I asked if I could get a beer at the bar as we arrived at 9.30pm, originally they said yes to this, then walked over to the bar to be told they wouldn’t serve us. Completely not on when you’ve travelled for a full day. The room itself was clean, however the bed was uncomfortable and made awful noises. The view was taken up by about 19 hanging wires. We didn’t feel comfortable with them keeping our passports for the duration of our stay, when everywhere else we have stayed has simply taken a photo of them. The breakfast had a lot on offer, but nothing that we would eat from a westerners point of view. There aren’t restaurants or many cafes around to go to either. Just a Highlands coffee. We’ve stayed in some wonderful places for around £10 a night but to stay here for nearer £20 a night and have the worst experience doesn’t make it justifiable. The staff are blunt, they look sad and grumpy. Even if you make the effort to smile and make conversation it’s not worth your time.
If you are travelling by train and having a stop off in Vinh, I recommend you don’t. The hotel is clean and the doorman is nice and that’s the best thing I can say about it.

VietnamAll furniture (beds, wardrobe doors, doors) in our room is old and makes awful noise. The lamp is disgusting. Bathroom door doesn't close. There was a lock like in a mall toilets to to keep door close. We had a "great" view on the next building wall. The staff at the reception were not friendly, they never smiled to us. The building looks nice outside, but nothing special inside. The room isn't soundproof. Our room was in front of housekeeper storage, so almost all the time we heard some one walking there and it felt as they're in our room.
Security at the parking lot was friendly. The parking lot is fine. Our room was clean.
