Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

VietnamCan’t think of anything to better it.
Breakfast was very good and the location is safe, and not far from the centre. Our hosts were very welcoming, friendly and supportive. The accommodation was clean, comfortable and very roomy and relaxed.

United KingdomI don't know what it is about Vietnam, but the beds do not have thick mattresses, so although we slept ok, it was a bit hard! The balcony was handy for a quick look at what was going on, but not big enough to sit on which was a shame.
We arrived at Hillside quite early due to our train time and Lisa and Yong were happy for us to check into our room which made such a difference. The room was lovely and although the location is a little tricky to find, it is really a haven within the area and a lovely place to relax. The garden was a lovely spot to sit (though beware mozzies in the evening) and we were made to feel very welcome in their home. Bikes were available to use (though we didn't in the end due to the weather), but that was handy to know. Not really a touristy area, but a good location to be a bit away from things and not too far from the station. Lisa also organised a great value taxi for our drive to the airport - thanks so much :)

Location away from centre of Hue, living on a hillside among the locals. Lisa and her husband are so friendly welcoming and helpful. They organised a fantastic tour to DMZ and Vinh Loc Tunnels, definitely well worth doing. Lisa's husband (sorry forget his name) cooked tasty breakfast every morning. Everything was just so good.

IrelandEverything was great.
A lovely, spacious room with a comfortable bed. We had a tasty home-made breakfast each morning. Our hosts Lisa and her husband were outstanding. Lisa was so helpful in organising a driver and guide for our visit to the Vinh Moc tunnels- and even after we left Hillside she texted to see how we enjoyed it. We really appreciated the personal touch and genuine interest shown by this lovely couple. Highly recommended!

An absolutely amazing room on the top floor with the use of the kitchen, seating area and terrace. A real shame that we only stayed 1 night. Our hosts Lisa and Yong were wonderful and I will definitely stay there again when I'm next in Hue.

AustriaI was not a big fan of the bed as it was a bit too short for me and also a bit too hard.
The host was amazing and even though I was only able to spend a night I had great conversations with her and she took care of my early breakfast and booked me an early trip to the airport for a good price. The house feels very spacious and homely. It was nice sitting on the balkony in the evening. Its not in walking distance to the center but it is easy to get around by grab.

United StatesMet the lovely family running the homestay. They made me feel welcome which added the feeling of absolute comfort. I was a bit ill through the entire stay and they made sure I was well before continuing my journies. Peaceful!

NetherlandsNot much really.. location is a bit outside the center but easy to get there by foot or motorbike.
The family room was big and very nice. Kids got a mattress on the floor, and we got a king-size comfortable bed. Nice balcony and very comfortable areas. Lisa and her husband are super friendly and make you feel welcome. Their home is beautiful, and you feel safe, welcomed, and comfortable in a good place.

SpainThe house is far from the city center (if your idea is to walk there), but with Grab or motorbike it's less than 10 minutes, not a big problem.
The owners are very close and friendly. We had a problem with the bed the first night and they fixed it in no time. The room is large, beautiful and has a lot of natural light during the day. The breakfast is delicious and so is the organic papaya! The terrace at the entrance is ideal for ending a day of sightseeing. We would love to come back!

AustraliaI have zero complaints.
My stay at The Hillside Homestay Hue was a wonderful experience. Lisa and her family were welcoming and accommodating, allowing me to check in early after a long journey on a sleeper train. Lisa's warm hospitality made me feel at home right away. The homemade breakfast she prepared every morning was delicious, and the fresh fruit provided was a refreshing touch. The room at The Hillside Homestay was spacious and comfortable, with a balcony that offered stunning views of the surrounding area. It was a perfect spot to relax and enjoy the peaceful ambiance of the homestay. The attention to detail in the room was evident, and I felt comfortable with the thoughtful amenities provided. The location of The Hillside Homestay was also ideal, situated on a hillside away from the city's hustle and bustle, yet still within easy reach of Hue's attractions. It provided a serene environment for a tranquil retreat. I highly recommend The Hillside Homestay Hue for its warm hospitality, delicious breakfast, and peaceful location. Thank you, Lisa, for making my stay memorable!

GermanyIt‘s a little far from downtown, but since Grab is really cheap and traffic manageable with your own motorbike, we really enjoyed staying in a more quiet area of Hue.
lovely hosts - Lisa and John really made every effort to make our stay as comfortable as possible. we got a lot of good advice from them for sightseeing, meditation at a nearby temple, and veggie restaurants, they organized a scooter rental, home made Vietnamese breakfast every day (even to ho when we had to leave early for a tour) and a free upgrade as the other room was vacant. Their puppy is super cute! We had a wonderful time here.

AustriaOne window in our room had no curtains so the room can get bright in the morning. Also the rooster could sleep a little longer ;)
We loved our stay here! Finally a really comfortable bed, free water refill, hot shower with high water pressure, AC and the nicest hosts ever. Breakfast was homemade, traditional vietnamese and tasty! They have a cute dog and two cats. I am allergic to cats but had no problems at all because the whole house was very clean. Also, you have to do the vegan cooking class and meditation with Lisa and Yong (one of our favorite memories), available on air bnb.

GermanySpacious rooms, very clean and the best hosts we could have imagined! Many sights were in walking distance so the location was perfect for us. The breakfast was delicious and they had a puppy which was very cute and playful. We had no issues finding restaurants close by. The environment was very calm and we could sleep so well there, very welcoming if you have been to noisy and crowded places before 😄 We would love to come back! Nicole and Tom

VietnamThere are some slight disadvantages you may need to consider. - It locates in the outskirt area of Hue, taking about 10 mins to commute to the center by car or bike. - Few shops and restaurants/food places around Yet, it’s close to some major attractions that can save you some time to travel. The best is that you can have a quiet and peaceful staying here without being distracted at night due to karaoke or street noise.
I had a great weekend staying at this homestay. Plenty of positive points can be listed are: - Supper friendly and supportive hosts - Well-equipped, clean and comfy room - Motorbike renting service is available with fair price - No curfew, you can come back any time you want

VietnamNothing at all
We took the bus from Phu Bai airport and they drop us just around 400m away from the homestay. The owner helps us book the taxi on our way back with cheaper price than normal taxi and grab. They value your private and willing to help all the time. The home is surprisingly quiet and they have cats :D (big bonus) We have trouble hiring motorbike (it's National holiday) and they are so thoughtful to keep 1 for us before hand. Definitely stay here next time in Hue.
