Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaYou’ll stay in a charming, beautifully restored , old-style Hanoi house, now boutique hotel . There are different rooms Our spacious top floor room was more gorgeous than the photos on booking.com. And it was so quiet. Unusual for Hanoi. It’s designed for privacy and light. Plus it’s practical. There’s a small kitchen area with a bigger than bar-fridge and sink (no stove) but you’re not in Hanoi to cook. Plus we had our own separate, private, rooftop balcony area. A joy to come home to at night. Warning : the beautiful deep stone bath is hard to shower in. So succumb to a relaxing bath. Delicious Bath n shower products provided . The wonderful host, Nghia is there if you need him - to organise transport or advise on anything - or nothing. Thank you, Nghia, we’ll see you next trip. Cảm ơn, Nghia. 👍🏽🙏🏽🌺

AustraliaThis was our 2nd stay at Tonkin House during our recent trip. Nghia our host was incredibly generous and accommodating. We loved the location as it was away from the very touristy Old Quarter but still close enough to walk there and there was plenty of great eating options, cafes and the "locals" park which is worth going to early morning to witness the hive of activites taking place. The accommodation had all the facilities we needed and was very comfortable with plenty of space including a kitchen and sitting area downstairs. It has an old French colonial charm to it and was so much nicer than staying in a hotel. We feel lucky to have discovered Tonkin House for our Hanoi stay!

the house is a beautiful oasis from the wild streets of Hanoi. it is well located - close to the old quarter, but not right in the thick of things. there is a nice park nearby, as well. the rooms were comfortable and well appointed. the very best thing about Tonkin House, however, it Kate, the absolutely wonderful hostess. she went above and beyond to ensure that we had a lovely stay and her recommendations about all things Ha Noi were spot on!

VietnamI would appreciate if they could think a way to climb the tub in more safety way , since the tub is thick and high. maybe a handle/ grab bar to help maintaining the balance while standing or maneuvering.
Everything really. Honestly , I never experienced this level of hospitality in HN before. I really enjoyed the effort that they put in here , even they put the candle/incense on before I entered the room. Kate was really really helpful and she made sure I was content with everything with her effortless communication. I also enjoyed the conversation about the history of this house too. well done, Kate! This place is really memorable. it's situated in a busy street , few steps away from cool bakeries and coffee shops. but You won't hear a thing from the street in this room. The whole house is well taken care of and clean. I love everything that I saw from their common areas like the hallway , the seating area until their dining and kitchen. Everything is meticulously decorated. I also admire the room that I stayed in. it's using wabi-sabi concept and I think they succeed it. It's well lit in every corner that made me feel at ease right away with perfect selection of warm material and color. The patio was nice and clean as well.

She made my days at Hanoi! I booked the room at the rooft top. The house is beautiful, with a nice kitchen that you can use. One of my best meal in Hanoi was really close by.

DenmarkNothing at all! Just a small note to say that those with accessibility issues (e.g. requiring a wheelchair) may have trouble with this accommodation, as there is no elevator and quite a few stairs.
Kate was a truly amazing host! She personally welcomed us upon our (quite late) arrival and had helpfully prepared a few snacks for us. She took the time to show us all of the facilities, suggested really nice places in the neighbourhood to visit, and even showed a lot of flexibility in allowing us to extend our stay until our evening departure. Furthermore, the room and facilities were beautiful -- great design, very clean and comfortable.
