Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

Tranquility Stay was the perfect choice for our stay in Hanoi. We couldn't be happier with our decision to book here. Traveling with my mother, there were two days where I was absent, and during that time she experienced some health issues due to the heat. Our host was incredibly kind and attentive, and took care of her. Additionally, she assisted us with our luggage and was always readily available. The breakfast provided was delicious, and our room was impeccably clean, quiet and comfortable. We wholeheartedly recommend this homestay. Thank you once again for everything!

SlovakiaThere was really nothing to dislike. What may be helpful, I work in tourism for years and I stayed in many luxurious 5* hotels, so my expectations from accommodations are quite high. This accommodation just fulfilled all that we expected 100%.
We like our stay at this place a lot. Everything was just perfect. Stella is amazing and so helpful person. Every time we asked for some recommendation, she just came with perfect advice. Room was cozy. Bed was extra comfortable. Breakfast amazing. Location just awesome.

Sri LankaWe were on the 4th floor and there is no elevator, so carrying our bags up and down were a nightmare. So consider that if you're we someone with physically disadvantaged.
Huge clean rooms with comfortable beds and amazing bread for breakfast. Surprisingly quiet room considering the location.

United StatesI recently had an exceptional stay in Hanoi, thanks to Stella, the outstanding host. From the moment I arrived, exhausted from a long flight, Stella went above and beyond to make me feel at home. Despite the late hour, she kindly prepared a homemade pho at 11 pm before we even discussed check-in details. The accommodation was impeccably clean and well-maintained, providing a comfortable and pleasant environment throughout my stay. Each morning, I was treated to a delicious homemade breakfast. Stella’s attention to detail was evident in the freshly baked bread, homemade marmalade, and the delightful surprise of different fresh fruits each day. Stella and her family truly made my stay memorable with their warmth and hospitality. Their helpful suggestions for tours allowed me to fully enjoy the beauty of Hanoi. Additionally, the location of the jaccommodation was very convenient, making it easy to explore Hanoi. I highly recommend this place for anyone looking for genuine Vietnamese hospitality in a pristine and welcoming setting. Thank you Stella and family for all your attentions.

Czech RepublicThe place is very quiet, considering the busy location. It is top standard for a homestay in this particular quarter of Hanoi. The check-in process is easy, and the staff are nice and helpful. Definitely an easy 10 points.

United KingdomThe bathroom didn’t smell great, a bit like sewage.
Very clean and lovely breakfast in the morning. The place was very central and we felt safe and comfortable. Stella is really kind. There are about 8 rooms, all quite similar and a dining room/lobby where breakfast is served between 7-10am.

New ZealandThe room was quite small but I think that’s common in Hanoi. There was only an internal window looking out to the staircase so we had to keep our curtains shut all day but at least there was a window. Seems quite common to have no window.
Stella is lovely and very helpful. The room was immaculate. The decor was bright and modern

Czech RepublicWe had such a good time in Tranquility Stay. The accommodation is located just in the centre of the Old Quarter which was a perfect starting point for exploring Hanoi. Our room was clean, quiet at night and we loved the breakfast that included traditional Vietnamese options as well as western-style breakfast options and delicious fruit and juices! Nevertheless, the most amazing part of our stay was Stella - the host. She recommended us good restaurants in Hanoi, shared with us the train schedule for observing the train in the train street and arranged our amazing tour in Ha Giang Loop as well as our bus tickets to Cat Ba. Stella is truly caring which made us fell safe and confortable during our first days in Vietnam. We definitely recommend to stay at her place!

United KingdomBe aware that if coming back late at night the gate to the alley is locked and quite difficult to open. You have to reach through a small hole to find the padlock. Not a problem for people coming in and out at normal hours.
Breakfast was good. Location great. Provided a meal for all the guests one evening which was delicious. The host was very helpful with booking trips, advice etc.

SloveniaThere are no windows to the outside, but this is quite common in the Old Quarter.
Stella is an amazing host, always ready to resolve any issues or just have a pleasant chat. She helped us book a Ha Giang loop tour, which was amazing, and she was there to help with some issues with long-distance buses we experienced. We first stayed in a smaller room, which was indeed small, but cosy. After the loop trip we stayed at a bigger room, which was spacious and luxurious. The breakfasts are freshly prepared and tasty, with a solid menu of options, plus plenty of fruit available. Stella is a coffee lover, which means the coffee at the homestay is great, offering both Vietnamese and western styles. The location of the homestay is great, next to beer street and the oldest temple in Hanoi. It only takes about 10 min by foot to get to the lake in the Old Quarter.
