Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaHard to come up with anything. Maybe get a bungalow with a dryer.
Idyllic location far enough out of Port Vila but still close enough to access shops and supermarket etc (rent a car). The jetty out onto the reef with easy access for snorkelling in clear water. The bungalows are large and all the facilities you need. The restaurant and bar offered great food and conversation.

AustraliaPrivate bungalow with sea views and far enough from town to have clean water for swimming and snorkeling with plenty of fish to see. Good for relaxation and to get away from the hustle of the city life. Geraldine the manager was very welcoming and helpful with all kind of information about the island. The restaurant offered good value meals with freshly available ingredients.

New ZealandThere was no continental breakfast provided when it was meant to be part of the package. This will likely relate to just opening up from a long layoff and staffing/cost issues involved in opening the restaurant. Lunch and dinner were to start to happen from Thursday to Sunday. After Covid disruptions the place was in need of some maintenance which was getting under way.
The location was wonderful because it was right beside some of the best coral we have seen in years - just walk off the jetty and you were in wonderland - even corals we had not seen before, lots of reef fish and even a passing turtle. There was a potholed road to negotiate to get there but hopefully it will be graded and sealed soon. Geraldine was very helpful - she arranged to buy in some food as we were coming in late afternoon and had no food for dinner that night or breakfast next morning; she organised airport transfers and brought the bicycles out of storage for us to use.

AustraliaIt was a dirt road to get to the property which was annoying but would you believe it, they started paving the road the day we left!
So much goodness - but let’s start with the snorkelling. Walk 50 metres from your bungalow and you jump straight into the best snorkelling you’ve ever done. Greens, blues, purples, oranges - it’s better than anything you’ve ever seen. And no need to travel by boat for an hour to get there - it’s 30 seconds from your door. One day I went snorkelling FOUR TIMES. Caroline and Damien went out of their way to make it special. They have incredible resort experience and know how to ensure their guests have a great time. We were best mates by the time we left. They even took us to the Beach Bar where we saw the most incredible fire show we’ve ever seen - I doubt we’ll ever see better. Out of this world. You’re also close to the zip line which we can also recommend. And finally, food in the restaurant was the best food we had in Vanuatu. Rounded out a wonderful stay. Loved it!

AustraliaToo far to walk to any coffee shops or food outlets. Really need a car. Restaurant on site only open Fri/Sat nights…and apparently closing down soon. A strange business move considering there is nowhere else to eat around there. Upon arrival to our cabin I nearly threw up with what I found in the toilet!!! Absolutely disgusting! Had to go buy my own cleaning products just so my kids and I could use the shower/toilet for 5 days! Towels were stained and dirty, torn curtains in bedrooms, ants/bugs everywhere. Kitchen was filthy and utensils/crockery looked like they’d never been washed. Ceiling fans rusty and dirty, made loud screeching noise so couldn’t sleep with it on, also couldn’t sleep with it off due to the humidity and NO air conditioning!! TV didn’t work either-lucky I brought a good book to read when it rained. Didn’t use the kitchen at all…too scared. Don’t know how people rate it so highly…..must be the owners writing their own reviews.
Quiet location….surrounded by nature and tropical scenery. Can feed fish from the jetty and see all sorts of tropical breeds.

AustraliaIt was a bit far to get to main places, but this meant you had less smog and more privacy.
Just outside Mele village, Island Magic was a fantastic place to stay! Right near the ocean and coral reef, the place exuded relaxation. Had the loveliest stay with great hosts (thank you Gerry and Yun!).
