Each review score is between 1-10. To get the overall score that you see, we add up all the review scores we’ve received and divide that total by the number of review scores we’ve received. We are currently testing a weighted review system in Malta and Iceland (excluding hotel and vacation rental chains). For properties in these countries, the more recent the review, the bigger the impact on the total review score calculation. In addition, guests can give separate ‘subscores’ in crucial areas, such as location, cleanliness, staff, comfort, facilities, value for money and free Wi-Fi. Note that guests submit their subscores and their overall scores independently, so there’s no direct link between them.
You can review an Accommodation that you booked through our Platform if you stayed there or if you arrived at the property but didn’t actually stay there. To edit a review you’ve already submitted, please contact our Customer Service team.
We have people and automated systems that specialise in detecting fake reviews submitted to our Platform. If we find any, we delete them and, if necessary, take action against whoever is responsible.
Anyone else who spots something suspicious can always report it to our Customer Service team, so our Fraud team can investigate.
Ideally, we would publish every review we receive, whether positive or negative. However, we won’t display any review that includes or refers to (among other things):
To make sure reviews are relevant, we may only accept reviews that are submitted within 3 months of checking out, and we may stop showing reviews once they’re 36 months old – or if the Accommodation has a change of ownership.
An Accommodation may choose to reply to a review.
When you see multiple reviews, the most recent ones will be at the top, subject to a few other factors (what language a review is in, whether it’s just a rating or contains comments as well, etc.). If you like, you can sort and/or filter them (by time of year, review score, etc.).
We sometimes show external review scores from other well-known travel websites. We make it clear when we’ve done this.
These guidelines and standards aim to keep the content on Booking.com relevant and family-friendly without limiting expression of strong opinions. They are also applicable regardless of the sentiment of the comment.
Contributions should be travel related. The most helpful contributions are detailed and help others make better decisions. Please don’t include personal, political, ethical, or religious commentary. Promotional content will be removed and issues concerning Booking.com’s services should be routed to our Customer Service or Accommodation Service teams.
Contributions should be appropriate for a global audience. Please avoid using profanity or attempts to approximate profanity with creative spelling, in any language. Comments and media that include 'hate speech', discriminatory remarks, threats, sexually explicit remarks, violence, and the promotion of illegal activity are not permitted.
All content should be genuine and unique to the guest. Reviews are most valuable when they are original and unbiased. Your contribution should be yours. Booking.com property partners should not post on behalf of guests or offer incentives in exchange for reviews. Attempts to bring down the rating of a competitor by submitting a negative review will not be tolerated.
Respect the privacy of others. Booking.com will make an effort to obscure email addresses, telephone numbers, website addresses, social media accounts, and similar details.
The opinions expressed in contributions are those of Booking.com customers and properties and not of Booking.com. Booking.com does not accept responsibility or liability for any reviews or responses. Booking.com is a distributor (without any obligation to verify) and not a publisher of these comments and responses.
By default, reviews are sorted based on the date of the review and on additional criteria to display the most relevant reviews, including but not limited to: your language, reviews with text, and non-anonymous reviews. Additional sorting options may be available (by type of traveller, by score, etc.).

AustraliaWiFi was not good, so if someone has to work some hours or study, get your own data, or check it out in advance.
I liked the location of Tropicana Lagoon, very convenient to visit the main area in Port Vila with the market, businesses, near to the coastal walk by transport, near to some nice restaurants. I loved the view from my room directly to the lagoon, and the balcony was nice to take a coffee enjoying the landscape.. The staff was very friendly. The restaurant is convenient to get some meals there at night or the breakfast. The pool is nice. The decoration and white colours on the walls plus the green from the nature, give a relaxing feeling. Everything was clean and they have staff cleaning and tidying your room.

Australia- Very dated, photos look like they’re from when it first opened. In need of a refurb - No hand towels or tea towels in rooms so you have to use your bath towel for everything - The ‘beach’ by the lagoon isn’t what you’d want to lie on. It looks like builders sand maybe?! - If staying here, you need a car (there is nothing to do within walking distance) You can catch a bus into town for 150VT, you just walk up the track and wave down a mini bus with a ‘B’ on the number plate. (There’s very little to do in town) - Besides the pool & kayaks, there’s nothing to do at the hotel. If the suns not out (which it wasn’t for our entire week) you literally just have to sit in your room. - It is recommended in Port Vila not to swim in the lagoon due to contamination. - The staff are very low energy. We didn’t get a friendly vibe on arrival. Although they’re helpful, it seems like everybody is very miserable. It made us feel like we didn’t want to spend time there. - We were given no information when checking in and there was no information in the room about facilities, what to do in the area, what time the chef is there etc. You are left to figure everything out for yourself. - There is no fixed time the restaurant closes, the chef leaves when nobody is there. In our case, we were the only guests, or there were only other minimal guests at times, so you can not rely on getting food. The food is also very expensive (the island is expensive on a whole) - Room basic, not really a comfy sitting area. The bed has no headboard, dining chairs very ridged and upright, the daybed wasn’t comfortable and outdoor chairs basic. This wouldn’t usually be a problem if there was stuff to do & places to relax in the grounds, but we had to spend a lot of time in the room. - The sun loungers in the photos are no longer there. They’ve been replaced with cheap, flimsy recliners. There’s a few around the pool but the beach is empty.
- Nice views across the lagoon - We stayed in room 12 with a good view - The supermarket was walkable (10 min) - Quiet location - 10 min bus ride to town - Clean pool - Kitchenette was very handy as no close restaurants and hotel food expensive (Gas stove, toaster, mini grill) - The room was cleaned daily, fresh towels and bins emptied - The staff were helpful when wanting phone calls made to local businesses to rent a car etc - Places to park the rental car

AustraliaEverything !!! The pictures are a lie they are 20 years old, The place is in disrepair, run down, filthy. The hosts didn't even offer us water after 2 cyclones even when there was no tap water after the cyclones and no power for the entire time after the cyclones and didn't even offer to take into town for supplies we had to catch taxis everyday. No generator on site even knowing in advance that a cyclone was expected. They didn't give us torches, they only gave us a couple of candles after the first cyclone. The beds were stained, uncomfortable, damaged and old. They call themselves a resort yet there were very few staff to be seen. The bathroom leaked was putrid, pieces missing from the vanity, stained toilet and the bathroom was not cleaned at all. There is only one key, that in it's self is slack beyond words and dangerous. The safe was new and not set up to work and she just gave us the instructions to do it ourselves. The fans were rusty. There are just too many things to list. My advice, DO NOT go there.

AustraliaIt is extremely overpriced for what you get. The rooms are big but ours was full of ants, we even had them in our bed. The beds are so uncomfortable so hard to get a good rest. We tried to book the breakfast package (but never happened 🤷🏾♀️) which is only available for an hour or so. And is only toast, cereal and fruit. We also booked airport transfers which never arrived. While the chef is amazing, he's only available for dinner, you can't get a meal before that or purchase any snacks from there in between meals, so you need to do a grocery shop even if you're travelling without children. Limited bar options as well. Great place for older couples or if you don't mind an uncomfortable bed, lots and lots of quiet time, and cooking your own breakfast and lunch.
The view from our room, the balcony, the chef for dinner, the staff are really helpful. Kim and her partner were great. The chef was our favourite!

AustraliaThe hotel was expensive for what you actually got. The facilities were a bit run down and the bathroom was not up to the price of what we paid. As a couple we wanted to be walking distance to town but thought it was a little too far away. Despite it being easy to catch a bus in it was still a little annoying. If you want to be away from the hustle and bustle of Port Vila it is a great spot.
The managers at the hotel were very friendly and were very happy to accommodate us. The location itself was very nice and was great for kayaking. Would be good if you wanted something outside of town and didn’t want to be in Port Vila.
