Saccharum - Resort & Spa is a luxury 5-star design hotel located on Calheta Beach, between the mountains of Madeira and the Atlantic Ocean. This hotel features a rooftop infinity pool, conference rooms, a buffet and an à la carte restaurant and four bars. Great place, great location, perfectly organized, it's really worth its money! Breakfast outside, on the terrace, looking over the ocean - just WOW!

Guests can use the hot tub while relaxing with the Atlantic Ocean views. Massage services and a gym are available. For the sports fans, the Aqua Natura features a diving centre on site. The natural swimming pools are a few steps away. Even in bad weather you can still relax with a view of the sea :) Comfortable beds, excellent breakfast. Parking at the hotel. The location is also good for trips to nearby levadas by car. We also ordered a massage (standard quality) and ate at a Japanese restaurant (longer wait, but good food). Wifi without problems.

All Proteas’ rooms are heated and have a private bathroom. Some rooms have a kitchenette and sea views, while others have wooden sloped ceilings. Breakfasts were great also the view and the peaceful area. The staff were very friendly and Teresa (the owner) is a very professional and kind person. Totally recommended!

Guests can also relax the spa & wellness centre where a sauna and massage therapies are provided. Beautiful views, friendly and attentive staff, very nice breakfast. We were there at the beginning of January and were able to enjoy the outdoor pool and ocean views. We had a car (which we recommend so you have the freedom to explore the whole island) and there is free parking available below the hotel on the street with a lift up to the hotel. We will definitely book in again if we come back to Madeira.
