Located in Hikone, within less than 1 km of Hikone Castle and 7.2 km of Maibara Station, Honmachi Juku provides accommodation with a garden and free WiFi as well as free private parking for guests who drive. This 2-star ryokan offers a shared lounge. The ryokan features family rooms.

The property is a historic building in an interesting residential area located near the Hikone Castle and old town district. Our host was incredibly friendly and welcoming host. It felt very special to stay here in our cozy Japanese style room.

The Japanese-style rooms at Ryokan Tobaya feature futon bedding on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. Facilities for making green tea are included, and bathrooms and toilets are shared. Rooms have a traditional decor with shoji paper screens and floor cushions.

The owner of this ryokan himself was worth the travel to Hikone. Super friendly. Super original Japanese. Does not speak a word of English, but makes it up for with his use of google translator :)

Located in Hikone, Kiyotaki Ryokan offers Japanese-style accommodations, Japanese home-style cooking and free Wi-Fi, a 20-minute walk from national treasure Hikone Castle. It’s a 12-minute drive from the Sawayama Castle remains. Drinks vending machines are on-site, and free parking is available upon reservation.

This was probably the best accommodation I had so far. It is true when they say - the further you go from the big cities, the more sympathetic and kind people you meet. I was very skeptical about my stay in the ryokan, as the pictures were not that promising and the price was quite low. As well as the city of Hikone is not that big (probably it is a small town area). But when I came in the evening after a full-day trip, I saw a very well made accommodation, exceptionally clean and a host, who met me with a very warm greeting! He showed me all of the facilities and we had a nice chat. I should admit - it is very important when you are coming late and plus to that you are alone. Later he offered me a dinner and I was more then amazed by how tasty and big it was for that price! I had 5 or more dishes (do not remember exactly as there were a lot), prepared on a beautiful tableware. I really felt like I was home. The lobby area was probably repaired - as it has nothing similar with the photos from the booking.com. Now it has a very clean and light colored design. It was visible from the first sight, that the host treats the hotel as if it was his own house, greeting everyone with open arms and heart. I would dream to meet such hosts in Kyoto, Osaka and other big cities. But so far, I met the best host in Hikone town. Unfortunately, I don't remember the name of the host-just found his name now. Hiroshi san, 温かい歓迎をありがとうございました。

KAMENOI HOTEL Hikone provides a hot spring bath and free private parking, and is within 2.7 km of Hikone Castle and 6 km of Maibara Station. Among the facilities of this property are a restaurant, a lift and free shuttle service, along with free WiFi throughout the property. The ryokan features family rooms and facilities for disabled guests.

I liked the quiet location, the view of Lake Biwa, the friendly staff, and the access to both public and private onsen facilities.

I loved everything!! It was amazing - the room, the fantastic onsen overlooking the lake, the super helpful and friendly staff who went out of their way to come and pick us up from maibara, the sensational breakfast and dinner, the yukata you get to wear around the hotel, the free udon and drinks in the evening. This place is really fabulous - i’d rate it more than 10 if I could!

This is really really good value for the location in Hikone. There are plenty of restaurants around. It also has its own charm as a traditional Ryokan. It has a hot bath!

Everything. This place is magical, the rooms are so big and Japanese style, I had a room with 2 Tatami beds, a living room, a fridge, a beautiful space for sit and enjoy the garden. You can use the onsen for free. The owner gave us a lift to the train station, which was so kind. If you stay here, make sure to eat some skewers in the restaurant that is just at the front. Overall, this makes my experience unforgettable. 10/10

Lovely traditional style budget ryokan near a large strip of restaurants. There is an onsen which you can use privately as long as no one else is using it at the time. The manager is awesome, he offers you a lift to the station when you checkout which we greatly appreciated. There are some bikes you can rent for free, but make sure you ask early. It was great value for money.

We expected a ryokan and this is what we found. The 3-room ryokan was well equipped with futons, microwave and fridge. The ryokan also offers a small but pleasant onsen. Staff were very amiable and friendly, though their English was supported by Google Translator. The place is a bit more than 1km from Hikone Castle and good restaurants.

Staying at this Ryokan was one of the best days I had during my vacation. It's a bit from the main station, but absolutely worth it. Also they will offer to drive you to the station when you check out for free. Great service! The room was huge and so comfortable. The private onsen can fit several people at once and I used it twice because it was so good. Also they can lend you a bike for free. I want to come back to Hikone just to stay there. And I would gladly pay more for the room. Book this place as you will not regret it.

Wow wow wow. I did not expect to love this ryokan as much as I did. There's an onsen downstairs that you can use, free bikes to use (I'm pretty sure there's only 2 though), and the owner gave me a lift to the station! Really exceeded my expectations and an excellent place to stay on my last summer holiday tour.
