We came to the Sannouzan Onsen Zuisenkyo to experience a traditional japanese inn with an onsen. The staff was so friendly and even though we couldn't speak japanese they made us feel comfortable and welcome! The onsen was extremely nice, with 3 different baths outside and 3 inside. Rooms were super nice with comfortable beds and very clean. You get free water, tea and little sweets everyday, which is very nice. Overall it's perfect to relax and enjoy nature, with interesting shrines and temples just 30min away. The highlight was definitely the welcoming staff and the great service!

Absolutely loved the hot spring baths, both indoor and outdoor, and it was great to have bath options between whirlpool, ultrasound, bubbles, herbal, etc. The staff were super knowledgeable about the area and provided lots of insider local information about when popular restaurants would sell out, how to get places, and so on. The dinner was superb. The room has the ocean view with many of Matsushima islands. The hot spring bath were great. They had one on the main floor and on the top floor with the outside view. I also had the oil massage. The hotel decor is Indian Buddhist. It is very clean and roomy. I really enjoyed the meals.
