Guests at Matsusaki Ryokan sleep in Japanese futon beds on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. A fridge, slippers and hairdryer are provided. All rooms are air-conditioned and include an en suite bath with amenities.

Natalie was helping us greatly, explaining everything to us. Even how to eat each course of our very delicious meals (the food was extraordinary and varied!). She made sure to organize our stay and all needs, like getting us to the airport in the early morning. Thank you so much, Natalie! We could stay without worries and relax in your care. The bathing area, especially the roof baths, are relaxing and invite to lean back and enjoy hot water and a clear sky - or even the sun rise / sun set. After a soak, there are a water dispensor and massage chairs waiting outside. It's perfect. As a tourist, I was also delighted about the shop in the lobby, which offered local specialities at a reasonable price. We tried a few sweets and they were very delicious, so we got some more to bring home. We'll make sure to come back on our next trip to Japan!

We had an exciting, wonderful one-night stay at this beautiful and luxury Ryokan hotel, which is situated directly on the seaside with a marvelous sight on the sea and the Japanese Alps in the background, directly from our room and from the traditional hot Onsen bath (open the whole night!). The dinner and the breakfast in your private “séparée” were extraordinary, Japanese kitchen at it’s best, and the personal of this family-run Ryokan was extremely friendly and accommodating. They have also a bus shuttle from Kagaonsen railway station, which is a stop of the new Shinkansen prolongation opened only in March 2024

Beautiful Ryokan, you really get a sense of the history there, we loved exploring the place. The hospitality was also amazing, we thought we were stranded at the station but they called us and picked us up with a private bus even though we arrived late. The room was stunning and so was the public onsen. Special mention to the staff, she had amazing English and helped us with everything, arranging buses to the local tourist spots and picking us up. Highly recommend, an amazing experience.
