We loved the traditional property and very nice land lady. She took the time to learn some English and it’s like coming home to a nice mom that cooks for you. We loved the surroundings too as it is licentie leave the hustle and bustle from the city behind, highly recommend!

Our 2nd time in this ryokan! Love the outdoor onsen! 30 mins drive to shirakagawo! There is also 2 unesco heritage near here which is less popular than shirakagawo. Beautiful view from our room!

Guests can choose to stay in Japanese-style rooms with Japanese futon bedding, or in rooms with a tatami area, which feature tatami (woven-straw) flooring and Western beds. Rooms are air-conditioned with a flat-screen TV, refrigerator and an en suite bathroom. Bath towels and bath amenities are provided.

Dinner & breakfast were included with our Japanese-style room and both were excellent. The couple who run the ryokan were friendly & helpful. Great location to be able to access the Gassho villages of Ainokura and Suganuma without a car - the local bus stop is directly outside the ryokan. It is also opposite the oldest Gassho house (300 years); it is open to the public and you can climb up to the 5th floor.

Authentic Japanese thatched room house over 300 yr history with Japanese style open-hearth dinning room. Futon beds on tatami floor. Bathrooms are clean but shared and fortunately fitted with modern “Toto” sanitary automatic sensor seats toilets. The landlady and family stays upstairs and we have the whole lower ground to ourselves. Food served is home made and delicious This house is located in the less touristy town of Ainokura. There is parking for 1 car (beside the house )and its free. The landlady is especially polite and welcoming.
