The hosts were very helpful in ensuring our experience was in the hotel and Kanazawa was great. Provided tips and a brief overview of the local hotspots and restaurants. Helped my friend find his lost JR Pass by calling the local station and police box. Even had good English.

All rooms are fitted with air conditioning, a flat-screen TV and a fridge. Yukata robes are provided. The staff is amazing! Very helpful and kind! The food was delicious. The onsen is authentic and a must! It was a unique Japanese experience!

A Japanese breakfast is available. lovely place, the tatami was comfortable and the room very spacious (expecially for japanese standards). our hosts were very cute. great location if you want to immerge yourself in the old district of Kanazawa, but keep in mind that the town centre is 15 min away across the river. location is great thought, very beautiful and quiet

Guests at Matsusaki Ryokan sleep in Japanese futon beds on a tatami (woven-straw) floor. A fridge, slippers and hairdryer are provided. All rooms are air-conditioned and include an en suite bath with amenities. This property was amazing!!! Private onsen overlooking the garden was just lovely. The rooftop onsen under the moon was fabulous. The Kaiseki dinner and traditional breakfast were lovely. The decor And rooms were beautiful. The staff member Natalie who served us had really good English ( although she apologized, and said it was terrible) We got a shuttle bus to Komatsu for a direct train to kyoto ( free service)

Beautiful location near the river, and whilst we walked everywhere the loop bus from the station stopped nearby. Rooms were amazingly comfortable and spacious in a traditional Japanese style. Buffet breakfast was delicious and staff were friendly, polite and helpful.

A free-use internet PC is available at the lobby. Sumiyoshiya is lovely ryokan with a lot of attention to detail. The host is warm and welcoming. Our room was spacious, comfortable and spotlessly clean. They had readied our room ahead of the usual check-in time, which we really appreciated. Their location in the city is great and we walked to most of the main sights. The shared hot tubs (separate for men and women) at the ryokan are well set up and relaxing. We're vegetarians, so we had to opt for the continental breakfast - it was hearty and of excellent quality. Our experience at Sumiyoshiya was so unique and comfortable that we'd prefer it to a hotel anyday.
