Jukeiso 3 stars

Miyajima

Besides amazing nature views, comfortable rooms come with a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge and an en suite bathroom. Yukata robes and green tea are provided. Guests sleep in Japanese futon bedding on the tatami (woven mat) floor. Staying here was like entering another world. We were picked up by a very friendly and helpful driver who pointed out points of interest on the way up to the house on the hill. There we were greeted by a lovely lady who escorted us into the lobby were a friendly, young man checked us in. The lovely lady then escorted us up to our room and showed us were everything was, made us tea and made sure we had fitting yukatas to wear. The room was very spacious with an incredible view over to the iconic "floating" Tori gate. We spent our first our just sitting on the window sill with our tea taking in the breathtaking scenery. Dinner was an adventure of most excellent Japanese cuisine. The private onsen was lovely. It is a hop and a skip down some steps into the village and down to the sea and I recommend a walk at twilight and night to really enjoy the place before the daytripping crowds come in the morning. The staff were so nice and helpful and on the day of departure they offered us to leave our luggage with them while we went for a hike and when it was time to leave we could simply call them from the port and the driver brought it down from the hill in the little car. I would love to stay here again. Just perfect!

Miyajima

All rooms feature air conditioning and an electric kettle with green tea bags. Some rooms have carpeted floors and Western beds, and some feature tatami (woven-straw) floors and Japanese futon bedding. Each room has an en suite bathroom. The staff were lovely, welcoming and helpful. They speak English and were always happy to help you. All meals were rich and made with delicious local products. The staff gave thoughtful explanations regarding the culture and traditions surrounding each food we ate, and gave tips on how to best enjoy each dish. The room was comfortable and large, with all equipments perfectly functional. An excellent option to enjoy "traditional" Japanese hotels. I would definitely stay again at this hotel without hesitation.

Itsukushimahigashimonzen Kikugawa 2 stars

Miyajima

Located within 2.3 km of Tsutsumigaura Beach and 500 metres of Five Storey Pagoda, Itsukushimahigashimonzen Kikugawa provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Miyajima. This 2-star ryokan offers luggage storage space and a housekeeping service. Momijidani Park is less than 1 km away and Museum of History and Folklore is a 12-minute walk from the ryokan. Great place to stay! They serve a traditional Japanese breakfast. They also do dinner but advance reservation is required. I don’t recall seeing that as an option when booking so I assume you call ahead if you are wanting dinner. Dining options are limited in the evening on the island.

Itsumoya 2 stars

Miyajima

A comfortable living room comes with a low table and seating cushions. A microwave, a fridge and an electric kettle are included in the kitchenette on the ground floor. Bedrooms are situated upstairs, and guests sleep on traditional futon bedding on tatami (woven-straw) flooring. The house is simply stunning! If you're looking for an authentic stay, this is it. The little garden in the middle of the house really adds to its charm. The bath is the best I've had in the past 5 weeks of traveling around Japan. And the owner is delightful.
