Besides amazing nature views, comfortable rooms come with a flat-screen TV, a mini-fridge and an en suite bathroom. Yukata robes and green tea are provided. Guests sleep in Japanese futon bedding on the tatami (woven mat) floor. Staying here was like entering another world. We were picked up by a very friendly and helpful driver who pointed out points of interest on the way up to the house on the hill. There we were greeted by a lovely lady who escorted us into the lobby were a friendly, young man checked us in. The lovely lady then escorted us up to our room and showed us were everything was, made us tea and made sure we had fitting yukatas to wear. The room was very spacious with an incredible view over to the iconic "floating" Tori gate. We spent our first our just sitting on the window sill with our tea taking in the breathtaking scenery. Dinner was an adventure of most excellent Japanese cuisine. The private onsen was lovely. It is a hop and a skip down some steps into the village and down to the sea and I recommend a walk at twilight and night to really enjoy the place before the daytripping crowds come in the morning. The staff were so nice and helpful and on the day of departure they offered us to leave our luggage with them while we went for a hike and when it was time to leave we could simply call them from the port and the driver brought it down from the hill in the little car. I would love to stay here again. Just perfect!

The room was comfortable and large, with all equipments perfectly functional. An excellent option to enjoy "traditional" Japanese hotels. I would definitely stay again at this hotel without hesitation.

Located within 2.3 km of Tsutsumigaura Beach and 500 metres of Five Storey Pagoda, Itsukushimahigashimonzen Kikugawa provides rooms with air conditioning and a private bathroom in Miyajima. This 2-star ryokan offers luggage storage space and a housekeeping service. Momijidani Park is less than 1 km away and Museum of History and Folklore is a 12-minute walk from the ryokan. Great place to stay! They serve a traditional Japanese breakfast. They also do dinner but advance reservation is required. I don’t recall seeing that as an option when booking so I assume you call ahead if you are wanting dinner. Dining options are limited in the evening on the island.

A comfortable living room comes with a low table and seating cushions. A microwave, a fridge and an electric kettle are included in the kitchenette on the ground floor. Bedrooms are situated upstairs, and guests sleep on traditional futon bedding on tatami (woven-straw) flooring. The house is simply stunning! If you're looking for an authentic stay, this is it. The little garden in the middle of the house really adds to its charm. The bath is the best I've had in the past 5 weeks of traveling around Japan. And the owner is delightful.

A nice guest house with an open kitchen and lobby. The tatami room even had a small balcony to relax after a long exploring day on Miyajima. Just be aware, that the futon beds can be quite hard to sleep on. But luckily i had some spare futons to stack over each other 😄. I would stay here again and definately recommend to stay on the island over night.
There was a wide range of amenities, hot spring, and the restaurant food was lovely we very much enjoyed our dinner and the staff were wonderful. We had a tatami style room and it was lovely of the staff to set up the futon whilst we had dinner. There were Yukatas to borrow for our stay as well and that was lovely.
This charming ryokan style hotel was like stepping back in time. Like others have mentioned, the hotel is dated, but it is well maintained and very clean. The view from the rooms out to the sea is lovely and futon beds very comfortable. The food was excellent and service exceptional. We enjoyed using the onsen facilities and rocking round in our yakuta. The shuttle service from the port was also very handy. We had a memorable stay and loved our time on Miyajima.
Very beautiful ryokan. The yukata. The onsen. Very clean. Polite staff. A nice experience of traditional ryokan.
Miyajima is so beautiful! The hotel is right on the main walkway looking towards the water, so really easy to find from the ferry. It's. Beautiful traditional Ryokan with Tatami floors and futons and a public bath, which after a long day travelling or sightseeing was bliss! The staff were so friendly and helpful, with recommendations for dinner and helping us catch the bus to the beach for a cool off! My favourite place in Japan so far!
The room had great views and was spacious. The futons were comfortable. The personnel was really kind and helpful, giving tips for where to go in the island and nice restaurants. The ryokan has a two onsens you can book for free for one hour, one of them with a nice view to a small garden, really nice. There is a kitchen where you can cook yourself which is big and a nice common area. We could not enjoy the garden as we stayed only one night. I would stay here again. Good value for the money spent.
This is a traditional Japanese style hotel: futons, onsen in the hotel. tatami mats. Really nice staff. Super conveniently placed for the ferry terminal and the shrine. Well worth getting up early and getting to the shrine before everyone arrives on the first ferries. Same in the evening. Stay here and see for yourself.
Spacious ryokan, friendly and helpful hotel staff, a shop at the lobby for last minute shopping, near shops and sightseeing places. They provided yukatas, water bottles, coffee, tea bags and delicious biscuits. They also setup your futon beds while we were out during dinner time.
Classic traditional ryokan (Japanese B&B) with an onsen (hot spring). Beautiful place. Immaculate service. I recommend taking half board to enjoy a fantastic elaborated dinner served in the room. The onsen facilities are great and there’s also table-tennis and karaoke 🎤
