The property was beautiful. Traditional Japanese style housing with stunning gardens, a stream with bamboo forest, Koi pond, and some modern touches for comfort. The owners went above and beyond in every way to make sure we enjoyed our stay. After a week, they began to feel like family. The breakfast and dinners they serve are seared into my brain because they are just so good…and eating while gazing out into the garden was such a zen moment. We’re sure to never forget this stay and I look forward to returning.

Izumi-Sano
The open-air hot-spring bath at Fudoguchikan is available 24 hours, and separate per gender. The ryokan also houses a lounge, a shop and drinks vending machines. A variety of yukata robes are available for rent, and free parking is on site. This hotel includes an extensive dinner of many small courses in a private dining room. We were delighted with the extensive and beautiful offerings. We loved the cozy tatami room overlooking the flowing river. While we were out at dinner, our room was magically turned into a warm futons so we could sleep with the sound of the water. The onsen was lovely, with a cooler indoor soaking pool and a downstairs hotter outdoor pool (separated by gender). In the morning, we enjoyed an elaborate Japanese breakfast in a common breakfast room, but well separated from the other guests and beautifully attended by the attentive staff. More than anything, we appreciated how much they went out of the way to make us feel welcome. Two of the three members of our party were not Japanese speaking, but everyone was friendly and helpful. They clearly took the time to translate our menu into English so we could enjoy each course. Truly over and above. Want an uniquely Japanese experience that takes you away from the touristy city centres? This is the place to go.

I was very worried for I was left alone since my sister went back to Canada. So I was alone and I realize the premises had no elevators so I panicked. I messaged the facility staff and told them. At first I didn’t want to stay because my suitcase was such a huge inconvenience. But the staff helped me with bringing my suitcase up. They were so kind and nice! They offered to help me afterwards as well. I felt like I would do ok going back down compared to going up. But they were so great. So hospitable. My room was cleaned after I had food poisoning. Completely. I felt horrible but I did my best in cleaning up after myself. I am very happy with the room it was adorable, too big for myself but, it’s ok I used up the space. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality. Would definitely stay again!

I really liked the location - it wasn't too far from the subway, but wasn't right downtown where it is busy and overwhelming. There is a really good okonomiyaki takeout place very close by. The breakfast was delicious and the hosts are very kind!

11 course menu (Kaiseki) was outstanding, just like the rest of the meals. Everybody was very friendly and accommodating. Received personal advice on what to see in the area. Very quiet, despite train station in close proximity. Hot spring (onsen) can be used almost all day and night. Beautiful traditional Japanese rooms. Would love to stay again.
The hot spring onsen was a bonus. We needed an interconnecting room. The hotel is right outside a metro entrance. Relatively easy to get Osaka Castle, Aquarium and Dotonbori.
Having stayed in some very small hotel rooms, with barely space to move around the room, the tatami room was a lovely space which meant we could sit down and have breakfast or a snack around the table, and the kids found the futon beds really comfy. The hotel is in a fairly quiet part of the city but with cafes and a convenience store nearby, it as well as subway stations making it easy to get around.
Hotel with fantastic amenity and facilities (public onsen, coin op room of washers and dryers, vending machines, day spa and the best 24 hr in hotel convenience store where you could buy mini meals, snacks, drinks, alcohol and all very affordable). Very comfortable beds, and great in bath showers with slippers, yukatas and robes and ofcourse the many cool amenities the Japanese thoughtfully provide.
Japanese style living house. Great for families. You will be able to fit everyone. Will need at least 2 rooms in a standard hotel. Very comfortable Futon bed and Tatami flooring. Well equipped kitchen. Also has a washing machine but no dryer. About 8-10 minutes walk to train station (Daikokucho). From there you will be connected to Metro. Easy check in and check out process.
one stop away from umeda station and shopping; quiet part of city and connected to subway lines underground , good breakfast buffet ; free soba, ice cream , yakult , massage chairs , unique tatami flooring through out entire hotel , top floor onsen with hot tubs and shower facilities ( club feel ) ; and most importantly the people at concierge ; so willing to help and could manage english speaking guests ; helped to arrange taxi to station ;
I really loved how spacious the room was. It had its own bathroom and an awesome view of the river. There was plenty of room to stash our bags too. Despite being in a super touristy spot, I had a great night without any outside noise. They even hooked us up with yukatas, which my brother and husband totally rocked for a dip in the onsen. What I also adored was the traditional Japanese vibe of the place. Wish I could've stayed longer and soaked in that view from the room.
Of course the onsen, but also the breakfast room, which looked very friendly and open. The breakfast itself was very good as well, especially nice as it was a traditional breakfast - as well as traditionally served. The room was nice, but of course traditionally small as a Japanese room with futons. We got exactly what we expected as a "typical Japan experience"
Absolutely lovely stay in an authentic ryokan. The welcome treats, yukata (bathrobe), and bath slippers provided were sweet, homey touches. The in-house onsen was a great way to end a long day and unwind.
